Description
Capturing the Vacuum - cyberpunk meets steampunk jewelry in a vacuum tube pendent. I realized its been a while since I've uploaded any of my cyberpunk/steampunk vacuum tube necklaces. I haven't made any for a while and now finally have some up on my etsy site. There is something really amazing about these wonderful vacuum tubes. Originally they would have been used in electronics - televisions, radios etc. Once they were even used to make computers. Now, this stunning tube has been repurposed into an unusual piece of jewelry!
The vacuum tube is about 6cm long - about 2.4inches by over 2cm wide - about .8 of an inch. It really looks fantastic reflecting the colours around it.
The detail inside these tubes are truly incredible - shiny silver, delicate filaments and wonderful electrodes sealed under glass inside a vacuum. This one has some lovely of colour where the copper goes through the glass.
I designed a "hardware" chain - using various bits of standard, modern hardware and some great darker link beads. I chose some very dark hardware (have a look at the photo of the chain) - so that the round dark bits echo the round hole in the detail.
finally posted them to etsy,

That is amazing. Along with the rest of your steampunk-cyberpunk jewellery. It's got this sort of unique flair and intricity you don't see in most jewellery. Definitely a necklace I'd actually wear.

Looks incredible. Definitely a relief from the more popular designs in neckaces these days.

thank you! yeah.. it really isn't like most things. It looks like to me something - a bit alien. A bit intriguing. I am always amazed when I wear one how many people want to touch it. Definitely not a common kind of element.

Out of curiosity, I did a little Google search and... Viola!

I know this post is incredibly necro but... Is that what you had in mind, NycterisA? Or did you mean the actual guts of a flash drive inside of a vacuum tube?
Anyway, I just thought it was cool and would of interest to future cyber-travellers.
There are several other versions, as well. I just liked the color and styling of that particular one...

I think there are a lot more steampunk things on the market now than there were when this post was made.
Thanks for the links!

Sorry for the late reply. (Darn it, I wish I would receive email notifications of notes/post replies. ) Oh, yes. Steampunk is definitely more popular now. I just have this nasty habit of necroing posts in the off chance that some other wayward cyberexplorer comes wandering by, as well.
Love your stuff! Keep on keepin'!
