Description Old picture that I've been delaying in coloring... but finally did it tonight. XD

Honestly, Izumi is my most disliked Female Character of ALL Digimon series... I found her to be extremely unlikeable and rather... bitchy. =d Ruki started the same way in Digimon 03, however she at least GREW as a character and became a bit more sweet. Izumi on the other hand... didn't really change.

Soooo... Ranamon's revenge, or payback for showing her up, is sort of sweet revenge for myself having to sit through the series with her annoyance in every scene she appeared. XD Pfft. Whatever~ Enjoy the dark yuri.

Izumi has gotten even with Ranamon, when she's rarely won against Izumi. =d
I think this picture is pretty just on Ranamon's side.

I think Ranamon's okay, but Calmaramon... eeegh... *shudders*

Digimon is a pretty bad series when it comes to the female characters. =d Of all the series, I only ever liked Mimi and Ranamon. XD

I love those two as well. But alot of the other girls (Sora, Yolei, Kari, Jun, Rika, Jeri, Yoshino, Akari, Nene, Airu, etc) are cool as well. The only ones I really didn't like were Suzi Wong from "Tamers" and...well, Izumi/Zoe.

I didn't mind Shao, she was just a little kid, so I had no issues with her. XD

The characters I hated/disliked were Sora(mostly in season 2 because she made no sense and went all next-door-neightbor girly), Ruki(who I hated in the beginning and warmed up to her in the end when she actually grew a heart), Hikari(who was nothing but a Mary-Sue), and Izumi. I was okay with Miyakou(until the ending where she became a stay-at-home-mother when she was smart and already in the market for a job with that intelligence) and Juri(who obviously had a mental condition with the trauma she had to face after her mother's death and blaming it on herself). Seasons 5+ I haven't seen, so I can't judge any of the girls past Izumi.

She was annoying and useless. I wouldn't have minded so much if she accomplished anything as a tamer, but...what did she accomplish?

I loved 01 Sora, hated what 02 did to her. I can forgive Rika 'cause we weren't supposed to like her in the beggining. Yeah, Kari was a Mary Sue but, opposite of Sora, I liked her better in 02. And Zoe...yeah, she sucked ass. Ranamon pwns her any day of the week. XD

Yolei and Jeri are pretty underrated.

Cloud-Kitsune In reply to TheRisenChaos [2012-11-08 01:04:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, she was able to tame one of the Devas so they didn't have to fight her, got Jenrya to realize he was being no better then their father(or any adult) in wanting utmost control and needing to except the help of others and not be the adult all the time when he's just a kid, and she was, what? Six years old? I don't expect her to accomplish much more then surviving.

I think Hikari was better in 01, how in 02 she's even more Mary-Sue in how many guys(human AND digimon) want to get into her underaged panties.

TheRisenChaos In reply to Cloud-Kitsune [2012-11-08 01:08:15 +0000 UTC]

Still, I don't think the show would've been missing anything had she NOT been made a Tamer.

Kari was way more Sue-ish in 01 to me. In 02, I can only remember TK, Davis, and Dagomon wanting to get into her panties. Other than that, she was likeable and I like how they showed that being a Messiah of light had reprecussions and had her break down when the darkness got too strong for her. Whereas in 01, she was a Messiah of light and that was that.

Cloud-Kitsune In reply to TheRisenChaos [2012-11-08 01:22:04 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I disagree. XD If she didn't get into the Digital World with the rest, Jenrya would not of had to put his full attention onto her, and instead would of been focusing it on Juri and the others, MEANING she wouldn't of been captured by the D-Reaper and that would of meant that said D-Reaper wouldn't of been able to enter the real world, and the final climax would of never happened.

You also missed the three guys who wanted Hikari in the traveling-the-world climax of the series and Wallace in the movie. Plus, that repercussions episode you speak of was more of a random filler that went nowhere, as bad ass as it was, and didn't really hold too much weight for me in the end, how again, it goes NOWHERE. But I will say that I'm glad that those episodes exist, only because it gave the creator of said episodes a chance to control a full series; Digimon Tamers, which is my favorite of them all.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheRisenChaos In reply to Cloud-Kitsune [2012-11-08 01:26:11 +0000 UTC]

So Jenrya being distracted made it all happen? I thought all of them were focusing on something when Jeri got abducted by the D-Reaper.

Oh yeah. The three guys were just so forgettable, and I wanted to forget about Wallace. XD But it's not fair to single out the reprecussions for going nowhere. Almost EVERYTHING in 02 went nowhere in the end. And it wasn't just that one episode: it came up again when Yolei had to slap her to snap her out of it, and even in the finale when MaloMyotismon started calling forth darkness.

Its also bad that you wanted Shao to do something with her Lopmon. Did you SEE what happens to the other kids who get attached to their Digimon? They get royally messed up, feeling each others pain(emotional and physical) both ways. Had she gone through that, being so young and under-developed, could of royally messed her up. Its already bad enough the other kids, at the ages of 10, were going through that pressure.

Buuuut, had Jenrya been free, he would of most likely kept a fatherly eye out on Juri, when Ruki lost attention of her herself. I'm not saying it would of gone better, but he wasn't able to help anyone with his full focus on his little sister. He was just under too much stress, brotherly love and all that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheRisenChaos In reply to Cloud-Kitsune [2012-11-08 17:06:46 +0000 UTC]

Again, wouldn't have had to worry about that had she not got Lopmon and become a tamer. That wasn't in Konaka's original plan, it could have very well just stayed out, that's all I'm saying.

Yeah, Mimi was a great character. But for some reason, I couldn't stand Rika (or whatever her name is) from tamers. I just though she was a brat.

Cloud-Kitsune In reply to gdpr-20350176 [2012-07-07 14:09:35 +0000 UTC]

That's how she started with me, but at least her character did develop into a more supportive individual. I like to think Juri(who creeped me out the first time she appeared) helped her with that a bit, as well as Renamon. XD

Hikari and Juri were both creepy the first time they appeared in their seasons, and then Hikari sorta turned into a Mary-Sue, getting digimon who wanted her and... *shudders* Ya... At least she was nice? XD
I also liked Sora a little, until 02 came out and made me not stand her. Mainly due to how she didn't make sense anymore. Originally she was a tomboy type, but then she just... became some girl with NO real personality that I could see. And then she suddenly had a crush on Yamato, that, for me, was completely out of NOWHERE when the whole series(and movie) hinted that Taichi and she were already trying to make something work....

Personally I'm a Yaoi/Yuri fan, so I wouldn't of cared either way who Sora ended up with in the show(well, except Yamato 'cause it still makes no sense), but I wouldn't of minded if she went with Taichi, honestly. XD Preferably, I'd go for Sora x Mimi, though~

gdpr-20350176 In reply to Cloud-Kitsune [2012-07-07 14:26:21 +0000 UTC]

Well, Zoe did change a bit throughout Frontier. Remember when the group was sucked into Sakkakumon, and they all had to learn some sort of life lesson? Zoe learned that there were people who liked her, but not when she was mean or annoying. That's why she eventually stopped thinking she was better because she was a girl.

Cloud-Kitsune In reply to gdpr-20350176 [2012-07-07 14:59:41 +0000 UTC]

I didn't get the feeling she thought she was better because she was a girl... It was because she was from a different country, knew both Japanese(in the original, anyways) and Italian, and had a superior complex/ego that made her think she was better then ANYONE, both boys and girls, especially ones who didn't take her personality well at first.

But then, the most recent version I watched was the Japanese, so maybe its a bit different in English?

👍: 1 ⏩: 2

GeneralKefka In reply to Cloud-Kitsune [2012-08-14 16:07:59 +0000 UTC]

It was because of the culture barrier that other kids didn't really understand her, so she developed a superiority complex in retalliation, and that just put everyone off of her due to her bitchy personality. Ranamon threw this at her face in a "the Reason You Suck" moment. And y'know what? She was RIGHT!

I didnt like Izumi either,
the character that i thought had the most character growth was Mimi, from Adventure.
Infact, i think Digimon Adventure's characters had the highest growth. They actually had to understand their crest and learn how to grow up. I felt most of the later seasons' characters were childish compared to Adventure's characters. Watching Adventure 02 pissed me off somewhat because Daisuke and Miyako just didn't get the enormity of the situation untill MUCH later in the season. I absolutely hated Masaru from Savers because all he thought about was fighting at first, he didnt have much character growth until the very end.

I really liked Frontier because i watched Kouji open-up to the world and i watched Takuya grow up and take responsibilty for his actions. I watched Tomoki face his fears and i watched Junpei finally understand how to make friends.

Out of all of them, i liked Digimon seasons 1 and 4 the best. They grew the most.

Cloud-Kitsune In reply to fbmstar [2012-06-20 23:15:30 +0000 UTC]

I found that Hikari and Sora didn't really grow as characters in Adventure 01... but those were the only two who didn't do really any major growth. They were already as they were. =d

I found Digimon Tamers to do wonderful, REALISTIC character growth, that most is so subtly you might not even notice when it happens. 'Cause the episodes aren't DEDICATED to growth, its the series in general that inches step by step to show how a character grows over time... Again, realistically. XD

But ya... the only characters in Adventure 02 that showed any growth was Iori and Ken. XD Funny, that...

GeneralKefka In reply to Cloud-Kitsune [2012-08-14 16:17:31 +0000 UTC]

Sora not growing is a common misconception. What she had (her mommy issues, and the self-doubt that plagued her in the dark cave towards the end) were small, but they were there. I think she grew more as a character than TK and Kari did, at least.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cloud-Kitsune In reply to GeneralKefka [2012-08-14 23:06:33 +0000 UTC]

The dark cave moment seemed more a throw-away plot that the writers forgot that they didn't make Sora a compelling enough character, so just threw her into the cave to make it SEEM important, when it wasn't... The point of Yamato's moment in the cave had MUCH more meaning, and made Sora look like a copycat in comparison. =d

But I think Takeru did some of his own growing, just a lot more subtle. He started as a little kid who couldn't really do anything, but proved himself that he could stand on his own, which put Yamato in a position of feeling useless/unneeded. Hell, even at the CLIMAX of the series, its Takeru who saves everyone using Patamon's omega form. =d And it wouldn't of been achieved if he hadn't matured enough to be brave enough to fight and stand up for himself and others.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GeneralKefka In reply to Cloud-Kitsune [2012-08-14 23:16:43 +0000 UTC]

There actually WAS some foreshadowing for it happening to Sora during that arc, though. She was taking everything upon herself, often having quiet, depressed moments. This was when she finally broke. It wasn't as important and compelling as Matt's arc, but it wasn't meant to be.

To me, TK's development just kinda fell a little flat for those very reasons you stated. Despite going on about how he can stand on his own and not need Matt, the ONLY reason he doesn't fall to his death in that climax was because he had MATT as a keychain in his hand and imagined HIM inspiring him! Even if it was in TK's mind, it seemed like they were still tying his growth too closely to Matt.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cloud-Kitsune In reply to GeneralKefka [2012-08-14 23:22:34 +0000 UTC]

But that's a good thing, 'cause Yamato wants to be in Takeru's live, he just needs to learn that Takeru needs to man up and do things on his own. Its like Baby & Me(one of my favorite manga), where Takuya notices that his baby brother, Minoru, doesn't need him as much anymore, after spending a months on months taking care of him after their mother died. He gets a moment of depression at the thought of it, but then thanks to a friend's kind words, feels more proud of the fact that he helps Minoru shape up to the person he's becoming. And even MINORU imagines Takuya whenever he's about to break a lesson that was nailed into him--like not crying pointlessly.

Really, for Sora, I think her climax was with Biyomon getting hurt to protect her, and while they were in the human world, and gets a pep talk and hug from her mom. That was the end of her story, right there. =d

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GeneralKefka In reply to Cloud-Kitsune [2012-08-14 23:25:38 +0000 UTC]

Which is why they gave her another issue to resolve in the Dark Masters arc. When we have Tai, Matt, TK, Mimi, Joe, and even freaking Kari getting all these moments in the arc, the poor girl needed to be given SOMETHING! XD (Though come to think of it, Izzy was kind of the same deal in that arc. His story climaxed back in the human world, so he didn't get much new development afterwards.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cloud-Kitsune In reply to GeneralKefka [2012-08-14 23:31:24 +0000 UTC]

Again, it was like the writers just threw her into the cave for a pity party, 'cause they had nothing else for her. XD It was pretty pointless/random...

Other then Taichi and Yamato's rival fight, Mimi's progression seemed much more sound and reasonable, especially being the kind girl that she is, seeing all their old friends getting killed, one after another... Taichi doesn't help being so hardheaded in just wanting to get it all over with--showing no sentimental emotions to their fallen friends, which upsets Mimi and Yamato to the core. And I really thought it was sweet of Jyou to stay with Mimi when they split up, again showing his reliability traits as a care giver. =3

I believe it was after that split up, and Hikari getting sick, did Taichi's strong will finally crumbled, remember how he had pushed his little sister to play outside while sick... much like how he was pushing EVERYONE around, despite those dying around them. =d So that was progress for him.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GeneralKefka In reply to Cloud-Kitsune [2012-08-14 23:34:07 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. I wasn't doubting Tai's development, and Mimi's character growth was the best. But overall, I didn't have much of a problem with Sora, thought TK and especially Kari got weaker development, and still wonder what Izzy really DID in the last arc other than...be Izzy. XD

digimon tamers is my all time favorite season of digimon! I felt that the characters had to face alot.
In most of the other seasons, the characters didnt really react to death, (except for ken in 02) but tamers got the reality of death down-pat. i also think that tamers had a dark undertone that just made your heart cry. it made you realize that growing up is hard. In tamers, i think Takato and Ruki grew the most. Takato wasn't the big crybaby anymore and Ruki's cold heart thawed down.

Heehee, I still love Takato's 'heart on his sleeve' personality, despite the crybaby-ness. X3 He was the ONLY 'leader' of all the series of Digimon who wasn't a hothead. He was quick to apologize for doing something wrong. XD

yes definitely

i find him a bit more like.... god i cant compare him!
he definitely was much more level headed than the other goggle-boys.

Ruki, for me, was the first Digimon girl that took on the role of 'the loner boy' that was previously played by Yamato and Ken. Previous to Ruki, all the girls were all nice and pure and kind-hearted, and sugar-spice-all-thats-nice stuff. She was also a breath of fresh air.

in fact, i think she is the only girl that was like that...

I mean compared to Mimi, Sora, Hikari, Miyako, Izumi, and Yoshino... Ruki is definitely one-of-a-kind!
