Description I think I missed the point of anthro... I originally drew this with a bird's head, but it didn't turn out very well, so I changed it to this. Now I'm realizing that it might have defeated the purpose. I don't know. Stupid categories The tail's inspired by the HP5 cover.

=ghillietoes42 wanted me to do some anthro stuff, so this is what I came up with. I think I kinda failed. I shall try again.

Pencil crayons on letter paper. I had a blue background going on, but it soaked the paper and made it all wrinkly. So I got a sky stock here: [link]
Unedited Version

PLEASE point out any anatomy mistakes (I know there's a gold mine of them) or anything that could be better :]

Photo background and drawing mix is... okay. Not that it's bad or anything. For me, I'd resort to drawing my own clouds, but whatever...

I actually quite love the character in general, I think it's nice you mix some bird anatomy into the human. Not fully anthro, but fine nonetheless.
You've got the coloring and the shading down just fine, it's really fiery and bright.

Still, not bad!

There's a link in the description of the original picture, originally I tried doing a blue background sort of thing by hand with some watercolourish paints, but it ended up thoroughly soaking the paper. So I tried this and I think it turned out better. I agree with you though, I prefer drawn backgrounds too. Slapping a photo behind the character just isn't the same.

Even though I pretty much failed at drawing it anthro, I still kinda like how it turned out in the end. Well, I don't dislike it in any case. Thanks for sharing your feedback

Watercolors can damage the picture and paper, of course. But in that situation, a photo would be okay, otherwise just paint the clouds in using the computer.

No problems!

I should really plan out my pictures better and consider thickness of paper beforehand xD

True. That and the quality of paper matters. Believe me, don't ever sketch on digital paper.

ok to explain anthro, giving an animal human like features. what they mean is letting a dog stand on two (2) legs instead of four (4) giving an animal a voice to speak common. here you took a human and slapped wings on it (you did a great job on it btw!) but to make this an anthro would be taking the phoenix and giving it some sort of human qualitly. not sure how that would work myself but here's an example of an anthro. [link] it's realy my friends char. ^^ see how I added that human aspect?

Aha thank you for educating me, I realised that I was definetly pushing it as I drawing this. I understand now! It's gotta be an animal with human characterstics, not vice versa, yes? Thanks for the feedback!

glad it helped clear things up, you can also look at an anthro as a 'furry' ^^

very interesting, a very good drawing, however, if you don't mind me saying, the left foot/talon looks slightly twisted to the left.

other than that, brilliant

Haha yeah uh... that's like that because she... uh... twisted her ankle upon landing....

Kidding aside, thanks for pointing that out, very true. Thanks again!
