Swimming swimming in the deep blue--OMGWTFBBQSo here's what I call: Anglerfish meets Rai's imagination. Yup. Experimenting here with a style I don't usually use. I purposely tried to make the eye of the big guy as dead and souless as possible. Big transition from this eh? Real anglerfish that live in the midnight zone of the ocean don't have a use for their eyes anyway; they're blind.
As an "artist", I'm trying to bring variety to my work. I'm experimenting with a wide range of subjects, techniques and mediums, so you might see big differences between deviations.
Sharpie permanent markers (fine & bold), Sharpie pen (fine), and India ink+water (background) on 5.5" x 8.5" slightly textured paper.

A sweer but scary picture, I really like it xD I think you captured the natures of the two fish really well. The background is cool too; I'd love to hear more about how you made it~~

For the background I used traditional Chinese black ink (I think they call it India Ink in stores though lol) and basically took a flat brush and added water to make the lighter parts, water colour style. :]

I don't see why not! I haven't worked too much with watercolours but I believe the ink's thicker, so you'd probably have to put more layers. I think you could get the same effect though

I really like the angler-ish fish design you made, it blends really well with the india ink background and just looks AWESOME. It's eye is so dark and souless that I wondered whether it was really and eye at all, maybe just a trick.
I do think they could have ben more depth and detail put ito the little angel fish. It looks a tad out of place being so simple... it just feels like it's not quite in the same style as the angler fish and it's being out in a large patch of white really draws the eye's attention to it.

I'm not really an artists per say..I have some kind of talent but not sure what it is. I'm actually a manager of an alternative band called Wendy Takes A Fall and I make the promotional flyers for their shows. I just take existing images, cut and paste and play around with effects til I think it looks cool. I guess that would be photomanipulation? Check out my flyers that I have created so far and tell me what you think. I really like the "Swimming" piece and think it would make a great back ground for a flyer. It has a kind of grungy feel to it. Thanks!
