I don't bother with the red pencil. I just use a regular pencil. Once the roughs are scanned I just drop the opacity so that when I put the digital inks on a upper layer I can see what I'm doing. Plus if you really want your roughs in red you can split the colors on the b/w.
It's just that the red (drafting) pencils I have don't erase well. Regular pencil 2F works and it's cheap too! ^_^;

red or blue make it easy to ink in Photoshop, you can do it in black but it can get a bit confusing.

Love it. How do you work your photoshop inking phase? Regular Wacom or Cintiq? what type of brush setting? Scan resolution you work with in Photoshop before resizing?

I've always wondered just how easy it is to ink things out in these programs. I've never quite got the handle for it... instead I would vectorize my lineart. Vectorizing things, however, always took me an eternity and a half. I think I kind of burned out due to it.
Regardless, this was an interesting insight into your mind processes, even if we need some cryptic glyph decoders to figure out your handwriting. xP
