"Family heirloom," she had said, "but as the one who helped to avenge my sister, you have more than earned it."
Sam had happily accepted the valuables. She had never been one to decline payment or gifts, family heirloom or not. She took what was offered. It would sell at a good price in the next trade city.
Having collected all her things she took one last look around the room she had spend the last few weeks in. It was now once again empty and almost made her feel lonely. With a shrug of her shoulders she turned around, grabbed her bags and went out to say her goodbyes.
