Description
Sascha! My sweet Blue Lions boy -u-While initially working as a very reluctant spy and informant for the Agarthans during his time at the Academy, the professor is able to help him break free of their control, though exactly how would be dependent on the route in-game. In the AU a friend and I have it goes a little different than it would otherwise haha I haven't thought as much extensively about how he might work in game as I have with the AUs we have, but some initial thoughts!
In an Azure Moon run, he would be disowned by his uncle when the kingdom is split, and helps Dedue escape from being executed in Dimitri's stead. After they meet back up with the other students on the Bridge of Myrddin, Dimitri distrusts Sascha and attempts to kill him, believing him to be a traitor like his uncle, but would be stopped by Dedue and Byleth. He would have extra lines when fighting Arundel and Cornelia, as he knows who they really are, and his supports with Edelgard, Lysithea, and Hapi would have many mentions of the Agarthans' kidnappings and experiments. His supports with Dedue heavily involve his desire to right the wrongs done by his uncle and to help the people of Duscur rebuild their home. Edelgard's transformation horrifies him, and makes him wonder if such a thing might have become of him eventually if not for the professor.
Sascha's entire existence would mean the bit near the end where the reveal of Lord Kleiman being responsible for the Tragedy of Duscur is tacked on wouldn't happen, as Sascha be able to reveal the information as something that isn't added on as a couple of easily missed throwaway lines with nothing becoming of it.
In Verdant Wind, Claude is definitely suspicious of him at the start, but upon finding out the reasons is in full support of helping Byleth free him and gaining an ally with so much knowledge of their enemy. He would rejoin the class during the Battle of Ailell, appearing as an ally rather than an enemy to be re-recruited. He expresses that the turmoil of the region, and his attempts to stop his territory's allying with the Empire caused him to be unable to travel to the monastery to rejoin everyone sooner. Travelling to Shambala would cause him immense distress, as he is terrified of being so far underground, but he wants to ensure the world is a better, safer place and that the things that happened to himself and some of the others never happen to anyone else.
Crimson Flower would be very interesting for him! He would stay south with the Black Eagles rather than going home, worried that he might give away their true intentions as Hubert helps him plan to deal with his uncle. While he very much worries about Edelgard's attempting to use the Agarthans for their power and letting them think they're the ones in control, he wants to keep her and the others safe and trusts Byleth's judgement that she's truly trying to help. When fighting any of the Blue Lions students he will try to get them to stand down rather than fight to the death, trying to convince them that Edelgard and Dimitri truly are after the same goals. In the Battle of Tailtean he's horrified by the soldiers who willingly transform into Demonic Beasts, and especially regrets having to kill Dedue. Sascha takes Areadbhar from the battlefield even though he can't wield it himself, to ensure it won't fall into the hands of the Agarthans.
Silver Snow would go basically the same as Verdant Wind. In both, he is very visibly upset and distressed to learn of Dimitri's death after the Battle of Gronder, and will try to convince Dedue to side with them when he reappears in Enbarr. Edelgard's apparent betrayal of the class in the Holy Tomb distresses him greatly and he sides with Byleth, believing Edelgard to either be fully sided with the Agarthans or possibly a replacement.
Byleth would be able to S Support him as either male or female
In our AU, which changes up the storyline of the whole war entirely almost from the ground up, when Sascha is badly injured part of the way through the year while at the Academy, Ari, one of my friend's characters, is tasked with healing him. She finds residual dark magic all wound up inside him, more than would be able to have come simply from the injuries he received, and begins to be suspicious. Her suspicion only grows when he shows nervousness and is hesitant to be left alone with Monica. When she attempts to kill Jeralt, Sascha manages to intervene and takes the knife himself. He survives because I wouldn't kill my baby boy, but it understandably alters the events which follow
