Another painting-sketch for this thing . c: For yinyangswings of Max. I was going to try something experimental with this but then I chickened out even though I was like most of the way through doing it that way. OTL Those hands killed me. I'm still not one hundred percent happy with them, but these are supposed to be quick things and between the hands and trying to get her hair to look good I was putting several more hours into this than I meant to even when planning on making it all fancy and experimenting. I was also trying to keep to a set palette which is something I think I need to work on doing more. I like how it ended up, overall, so there's that at least. c:Max belongs to yinyangswings

Nice lighting, I like it. 
Keeping to a limited pallet is always a good idea, according to this book I bought before about color and lighting. xD

I've always kind of low-key tried to keep to a simple palette, at least as far as the character designs themselves are concerned, but with actual pictures and adding shading and lighting and different tones and everything it can sometimes seem like it's much harder to do than it should be. OTL

I know, right? Haha, and I thought colors were simple too. But when you include backgrounds, it can really muddle the whole effect. D; It's like movie set design - it takes high skill to choose the right environment and how it interplays with the performers.

I kind of wish I did too, but I sort of realised at a certain point that I had kind of messed up my layers to the point where I would have to start almost completely over to do it like that. OTL
