Description
"Ha ha ha! Hey Zuri, come get a load of this!"Miruts had scampered away from his father's sights, Zuri guessed, and had snuck into Jwahir's isolated den. Feeling concern for the nursing lioness, Zuri quickly pattered towards the small cave, her fur brushed by the shrubs that hid the entrance as she slid in. There she saw the golden pelt of Jwahir with Miruts at her front, looking down at the puny lump of black fur she held in her paws. The mother lion groomed her day old son, who mewled with confusion at the rasp of the massive tongue washing him.
Zuri padded slowly over and stood by Miruts' side, and laid her own eyes down upon the little cub, fresh and new to the world. He had been called Tambo, a name that Zuri personally thought fit him well. Little Tambo shifted, mewing once more as Jwahir's tongue ran over his tiny black-furred body.
Miruts erupted in a loud fit of snorting laughter. "Look at him," he sneered. "He's as black as the night sky! He'll never be a good hunter if the prey can see him against the yellow grasses of the Savannah! What a freaky-lookin' little fellow!"
Zuri shrunk at Miruts' cruel words. She had heard her own sisters' suspicious words about this new cub, but they weren't as mean as this. Jwahir just kept on licking Tambo. "Hush, Miruts," Zuri growled, stepping on his paw to silence him. "He's only one day old."
"Pah!" Miruts scoffed, standing up straight and puffing out his chest, the smug scowl still on his face as he stared down at newborn Tambo with mocking eyes. "He'll grow, sure, but one thing that won't leave him will be that pelt! Ha ha ha ha! Wait 'til everyone else sees him! It'll be a show!"
"How can you be so mean?" Zuri snapped.
"My dad says it's all about natural selection," Miruts stuck his nose in the air. "And this little weirdo's gonna be far from being favorable to the pride, unlike me, the future king. He'll be a waste of space, nothing more than another mouth to feed and a laughing stock for the bigger, stronger, faster, braver, better lions to push around and practicing their mauling skills on!"
"Miruts!" The booming voice of Wamocha, Miruts' father, called from outside the den. "Come, my son, it's time to return to your mother for the night."
Miruts simply turned tail. "Coming, father!" With a final snort aimed towards Tambo, he trotted out of the den, tail up.
Zuri shook her head in disgust. Turning towards Jwahir, she placed a paw on the lioness' leg. "I think he's a wonderful baby," she whispered.
"You must being going now, Princess Zuri," Jwahir's voice was low and hushed, but it was cracking. "It's getting late. The sun is setting. The king and queen will be anxious if you don't return to them and your dear sisters."
Zuri stood up, glancing at Jwahir sadly. She wanted to say something, but her mouth never opened. Slowly, she turned around and padded out of the den as Jwahir began to sob.

First off, this lovely base is by
Remember that piece I did for my friend based on her children's story? Here' another little thing for her! :3
You guys already know who Tambo and Zuri are, but who are Miruts and Jwahir?
Miruts [meaning "he who has been chosen" in Tigrinya] is the brownish male cub. He's the son of Wamocha [meaning "never satisfied" in Nigerian], who is the king of the pride who combined with Zuri's parents' pride. He's very stuck-up, narcissistic, and the biggest bully of the combined prides. He is the self-appointed leader of a clique of cubs, and he loves showing it off. He's due to become the dominant male when he gets older, and this only intensifies his self-centered personality. Regarding his in-crowd, he believes that you have to be "cool" and "fearless" to be a member, and he and his gang love to push around and make fun of cubs who are not involved. Miruts has the ultimate "I'm better than everyone!" and "It's all gotta be about me!" mentality, and is an all around dick throughout his life. The majority of his followers can't stand him, but they never stand up to him because they feel that they need to be accepted by the future leader, and to avoid his verbal and physical bullying.
Jwahir [meaning "golden woman" in Somali] is Tambo's mother. She mated with an unnamed black panther, and thus became pregnant with Tambo. She was once one of the most respected members of the pride until she had her affair. Jwahir is very rarely invited to pride functions, and never eats with the group. She's timid and soft spoken, yet reasonable. She loves Tambo very much, but feels that she's the reason that he's shunned.
I love doing these bases xD
