Rui was a young man living in Asia. For generations the people in his family were able to commune with nature. Each of them had their own personal guardian animal who would guide them to their destiny when the time was right. Most of his family looked forward to meeting their guardian animals.

Rui did not care much for his guardian animal or his destiny but out of respect for his family he searched for his guardian animal anyway. One day he spotted a gazelle. It was no ordinary gazelle. It glowed with an intensity rivaled only by the sun and moon. It also moved very fast, so fast that no ordinary predator could possibly hope to catch it.

Knowing he could not outrun his guardian animal, Rui slowly walked towards it hoping it would come to him. She did approach him. As she came closer, he could tell the gazelle was female. She stopped a short distance away from him and nodded as if telling him to approach.

Despite his family history, Rui did not understand why he knew what his guardian animal was saying. Neither did he understand why she was female, glowing, and had such incredible speed. Cautiously he approached the gazelle and held out his hand to her.

As soon as Rui touched the glowing gazelle, he started glowing too. It started with his hand and spread to the rest of his body. As the glow intensified, changes happened to his body. First his body became completely female. Even his, or her, clothing changed into a short skirt, long sleeved shirt, and white shoes kind of resembling hooves.

Rui also gained the features of a gazelle. A new set of ears sprouted out of her head followed by gazelle horns. Her eyes became big and brown while her body as a whole became more designed for speed. She ran around and discovered she had gained the speed of gazelle.

When Rui turned to her guardian animal in search of answers, she just sped away leaving a glowing trail behind her. After a few minutes, the glowing trail faded away and so did the glow surrounding herself. It seemed she had to find the answers on her own.

With her superspeed and keen eyesight, Rui could do many amazing things. However, with her strange appearance she would not be able to fit in with the rest of society. Her family were the only people she could see because they were the only people who could understand what happened to her. They gave her chores suited to her skills and supplied her wants and needs in return.

However, they could not explain what happened to her. There were stories about some of their ancestors gaining the powers of their guardian animal instead of just being able to communicate with them. If it did happen, it happened a long time ago. None of them were old enough to have actually seen it happen.

Rui eventually found her destiny. In her free time, she would run around exploring the vast area around her. Occasionally, she would find individuals by themselves looking for a destiny. She would approach the individual but keep her distance hoping the mere sight of her would help inspire them. She found it ironic that her destiny was like that of her guardian animal when she did not care much for her guardian animal before they met.

One day people would tell stories about her. In the meantime, she would do her best to try to make the world a better place.
