"Ford, you're turning into a penguin. Stop it." - Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

Words Below:
The capsule from India landed on the surface of the moon. Navi had the honor of doing something no human being had done before him and set foot on the south pole of the moon. A handful of people had been to the south pole before and a few people had been to the moon before but no one had done both at the same time.
The eyes of India and the entire world were on Navi as he planted the flag of India and went about exploring the immediate area. He heard about the strange things that happened to people from the United States and China when they were exploring in space but he did not expect such things to happen to him. He was not even in space at the moment. He was on the surface of the moon.
In the distance Navi thought he saw water. That should not be possible. The moon was far too cold for liquid water. He went over for a closer look to see what it really was.
As Navi came closer, he saw large chunks of ice. There was a rainbow and even a living creature that looked like a penguin. He was certain there were no space penguins. Then he reminded himself that these were lunar penguins. They appeared to be inviting him over.
Navi jumped at the opportunity. Possibilities that it might be an illusion, might be dangerous, or both had not even occurred to him. He thought this might be the only chance he got to meet an alien life form and he did not want to lose it.
Reaching the mostly frozen sea, Navi jumped onto one of the icebergs. There were several lunar penguins in the distance. They were all leading him in the same direction. Navi followed them. As he did, he changed.
His spacesuit completely disappeared yet Navi did not feel cold. It was replaced by a black and white jacket with gloves attached to it, short white skirt, and yellow boots. It made him kind of look like a penguin. Then he realized he was wearing a skirt. He had no idea why.
The answer quickly came. Navi's body changed just like his clothing. His black hair grew until it was half way down his back. A tail grew out of him. His clothing fused with his body so that they were permanently attached to him. Secondary masculine traits disappeared and were replaced by feminine one. Primary masculine traits also disappeared and were replaced by feminine ones leaving him, or her, fully female.
She realized her name was Naya. The other name was forgotten. Naya ran across the large icebergs jumping to the next one when needed. She was getting closer to the penguins. By this time there were a multitude of them.
Naya reached the rainbow, which should have been impossible, and reached the secret city of the lunar penguins. The penguins had a technology more advanced than any country on Earth. Looking at herself, Naya realized that she herself was half human and half penguin. She guessed it was due to the effects of their technology.
At this point, Naya knew she would not be able to return to Earth. She would not be able to explain what happened. Additionally, the penguins clearly did not want to be disturbed so they would be unlikely to let her leave anyway. She would just have to make the best of things
Despite still being unable to communicate, the penguins seemed to understand she was homesick. They provided her with some items from their lunar culture. They knew it was no substitute for her home but they felt like it would at least provide her with something.
Over the days, months, and years Naya and the lunar penguins learned how to better communicate. They shared their history and culture as well as their ideas and beliefs about the universe as a whole. Navi wondered if she would ever see someone from Earth again. She had no doubt they believed she was dead and would not send anyone else until they were sure it was safe.
However, exploration was a part of human nature. The benefits far outweighed the risks. Navi had no doubt someone else would come to the south pole of the moon. By that time, she hoped the lunar penguins would be ready to open up to the world as a whole.
