Description

I finally got around to shading this piece. I admit I was on the edge for a long time, and some of the details have been lost from the line sketch. Still, one must push their bounds in order to get better.

All this was done in a .3 drafting pencil on a cheap sketchbook that I bought for $6.98 at a Barns and Noble.

So, what is going on in this piece?

Ru’s “hair” reflects the seasons to some extent, as it is spring here, her hair is coming alive. Sap is being pumped up through her branches and all the leaves are beginning to bud. She is also beginning to develop fragile blossoms that can be taken off with a strong breeze.

As you can imagine, or not if you are a guy, her body is undergoing a lot of changes preparing for the season, so some parts of her are very sensitive, itchy, and snap between uncomfortable and pleasant. In short, beware, she is likely to bight your head off should you say the wrong thing.

And don’t try and pick a flower from her hair.
