Description This is the rough process that I draw in. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I don't bite and I'm not one of those jerks who don't answer questions.

Oof I don't know how I missed this before but that kick would be a poorly placed one in real life. Having the feet bent like that instead of toes pointed causes you to lose balance, lose speed, and lose the full range of motion in the legs. The arms would also be bent and held closer to the body to create enough torque for power behind the kick. Other than that, it's nice to see the process that goes into making a finished comic page. It's certainly a fair amount of work.

XD Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't even thought of it. All that was in my mind was to make this look easy for him. XD Good point, will keep that in mind.

wa im really impressed with the movement.  I don't get how you made the leg like that, did you just run a bunch of lines through it to make it .... um... like that LOL

Thank you! Do you mean the illusion of speed on the leg? I first inked the leg normally, then erased the front of the leg a bit and added lines. So, yes, just a bunch of lines. Though in the final product, in the last frame you'll notice that I added some speed lines. Those comes with the program. Very handy. Hope that answered your question.

yes that's what I mean owo Hm that makes sense.   I didn't notice the final speed lines until now.  Idk haha, I find when I try to do something like that it's just likewoiejfoiawjfoiwajfoij bunch of random lines.  There's a certain logic to it that I haven't quite figured out since I don't really draw manga strips, but it would be a really great thing to know for movement pictures >3< What program do you use?

I use Manga Studio 5.0. The logic is to think of the motion in your head. If the character is round kicking, for example, then the lines should be curved to the angle you're trying to achieve. If the motion is straight, you have to think about the perspective. If you're doing this traditionally, it helps to get some curved rulers or French curves. Digitally, well, I haven't found a great way yet other than just "measure" with your mind.

ooooh. Is manga studio free? or is it paid? I only use sai, I'm still kinda herp derp at digital art haha.  But thanks for the tips :3 I will have to give motion another shot sometime >3< !!  And study some movement pictures to get how things are angled *^* Sometimes that's just the best way to try to catch onto stuff OTL studying other artists who already have it down LOL

No, Manga Studio is not free. but I have seen great art out of Sai and other programs. I think it is more of a preference than a need. Although for comic pages, Manga studio has all the screen tones and speed lines built in plus perspective rulers, so it is a great help. For illustration, any program like Sai, Photoshop, or Corel Painter would all  be great.

Haha yeah.  It's really what you are use to drawing with.   But yeah the screen tones are built right into Manga Studio which is pretty cool, but I've done a few pieces with just some lines owo Maybe once I improve more and am looking to draw more panels I'll get myself sum of that.  looks like fun haha.  I really love how you draw your faces though like wtf so pretty LOL  I must practice more <3

Thank you for the complements. We all need to improve continuously. I'm positive that you will do well, just don't give up. But I think once you have the basics don, the toughest part about comics is really the writing.

haha thank you.  I won't give up don't worry.  It's hard to give up when there are so many amazing artists to look up to who make you want to strive to get better ne.  I feel like comics would be hard to plan out each panel and page yeah @_@ You'd have to have the whole chapter planned out what you want to happen, and then figure out how you are going to like... go about that LOL  Like each panel and each viewpoint and speech bubble like @_@ I remember I got confused the last time I was making a comic, and mine are all very basic panel comics LOL

Yes it's usually preferred if you write out everything, not just one chapter. Then you would pencil and panel 30 pages or so, or an entire chapter or division, then correct mistakes and where you want to correct them, and then ink and tone. Then clean up.

wow.  So you build the whole thing at a time.... well I guess that makes more sense though, beucase if you mess up one part it's easier to fix in that stage than if you have the first 5 pages already totally done haha

CodenameParanormal In reply to SoubiVee [2014-08-26 15:50:42 +0000 UTC]

Correct. As well as, sometimes, after doing a couple of pages down the storyline, you want to change something in the previous page/pages, maybe a frame or a perspective from the previous page to help the story flow.

Paranormal (Noah) is the main character. Although the first time I wrote it, Dragon was the Main Character, as I wrote on, Paranormal stuck with me more. I really can't pick a fave, most characters has not appeared yet, it's a giant story... And I try not to care about any of them too much (hard to do), because if you care too much, it interferes with your writing. You risk making the character too idealistic, and also unable to kill a character off the storyline when needed, you'll be crying your eyes out, trust me. XD You'll know when you start writing scripts.

LOL DON'T WORRY I KNOW ABOUT THAT.   I don't draw mangas, but I do write stories, I understand that fact.  My character, Dion, OD's on cocaine in his story (He slowly gets worse into his addiction as the story goes on) and now my friends can't let me live it down LOL But yeah, killing off a precious character certainly is hard.  I like Noah though :3 Very cute haha.  I'm excited to see more
