Look, , I tried to draw Digit like you suggested!

Don't worry, it takes practice until you get used to it. I don' think I can still really draw Waldo, so this is just as good as any. ^_^

It might also help to watch some video footage of them, just to see the sorts of expressions they can create and make and how they move. Remember, all you have to do is ask. =3
