- Lore Story:
Years prior the series, an extraterrestrial spaceship crash landed in a site now known as area zero. The ship terraformed the land and "killed" several humans, by trapping their "souls" inside card-like items (Memory Cards).

The government and several scientists saw the aftermath and began to reverse-engineer the spaceship and discovers a human-like alien inside. They do several experiments and found out that they could "revive" the humans by creating artificial bodies and inserting them with memory cards, thus the Mimesis are born.

However, the scientists had several disagreements and they start a conflict on what to do with this discovery. Some see the Mimesis as the next step of human evolution and tries to push toward it, while some disagree with it since it could cause another culture war.

Several rogue scientists eventually stole the alien and hid it somewhere for their own experimentations, while the other continued their research with the Mimesis. Aside from the two opposing sides, there's a third faction that's orchestrating the conflicts (Masqueraders). They are basically the aliens who have secretly invaded Earth in order to retrieve and revive their king (the alien in area zero). They study humanity and play with the Mimesis through their own cards (Identity Cards), which causes havoc and puts the two human forces against each other.

Villain...

the Mimesis are "human-like" in every way. They can grow old and they also have semblance of emotion and retains the memories their original human selves have through their Memory cards. The one thing different is that they have unlimited potential. The Mimesis themselves don't know that they're not human. However, if they get inserted with a corrupted Identity Card, they go berserk and transform into monsters.

The Mimesis are basically this version of Humagears. They are artificial humans who are powered by "Memory Cards", but only a few know of their existence, and the Mimesis themselves don't know they are not real humans. However, if a person inserts an "Identity Card" to a Mimesis, they become "activated" and they turn into monsters that attack people. Mimoto somehow could distinguish a Mimesis from a normal human, and he's preventing them from getting activated.

Masqueraders...
They are a mysterious group that observes and monitors Mimesis activity. They are also the ones that "activate" them by inserting Identity Cards into them.

Identity Cards/Memory Cards...

Two types of collectibles. Memory Cards are basically the Humagear progrisekeys. A Mimesis can be "resurrected" so long their Memory Cards are saved. As its namesake, the Memory Card contains the Mimesis' memories. Identity Cards are the more important collectible, since these accesses Mimoto's forms. They are mysterious cards that the Masqueraders are collecting, and they contain humanity's identities.

Kamen Rider Mimoto...

Mimoto is japanese for Identity, which ties to his power. Since he has amnesia, he's basically a blank slate with only a few traits to him. He uses the Identity Cards he collect to transform and its forms are tied to his "self". Ex. since he's a champion marksman, his Gunner identity is more powerful, thus it's Major form. Meanwhile, he's not good at running and he's a bad artist, that's why his Sprinter and Mangaka Identities are only Minor.

- Character Story:
Shouma Katagiri gains another Identity Card in the Sprinter Identity. He quickly uses this card against a physically tough Mimesis but he couldn’t utilize its abilities well. After training his body in track and field, he eventually unlocks this Identity’s Full potential.
