Description
Sleeping (in fact, lightly snoring) young hedgehog, all 10 cms. of him. Mum appeared from a pile of nearby leaves a few minutes later & rolled him back to safety with her snout. As a child I remember we kept one as a pet, taking it out at night to hunt and supplementing its diet with milk and cat food. We even successfully over wintered it before eventually letting it go.

I wonder if this little guy is still around, although if the average lifespan tells me anything, it would be unlikely. Still, this is quite a cute little picture of this hoglet all curled up and ready for a nice nap, and watching all its quills stick out all over the place.
Not a bad look at one of nature’s creatures, even though I kinda wish the picture was a little bigger. Despite that, this is a nice shot. Hoping to see more out of ya!

oh this is adorable!! I used to have a hedgehog, her name was Rascal. She died about 10 years ago. She used to curl up just like this in my hand and fall asleep with her little feet up just like that. You could tickle her feet and she'd stretch out and go right back to this position. She was a riot, getting into all sorts of mischief with my cat. What a love. Great shot!!
