Pain shot down Vron’s leg and made her jerk in her seat atop of Splash. “Ah! Arceus!” Vron gasped, her finger gently clasping around Cy’s paws and unlatching his claws from her leg. “Jeez, Cy. You’re perfectly safe-” she said when Cy shot her a dirty look. “See?” She patted his bright orange safety jacket and yellow water wings that crinkled loudly. “And Splash won’t let you near the water, right Splash?”

Splash rolled his eyes, “” then the blue reptile smirked toothily up that cat pokemon, “

Cy snarled, “”

Hydra laughed quietly at the pair and gave her trainer a smile. “” she hummed, and Vron couldn’t help but agree.

“C’mon,” she called to her pokemon, “We can do this! We’ve surfed these waters before- We’ll find three of Lilac’s purple bands in no time.”

Cy rolled his eyes and readied himself to snap at his far-too-optimistic trainer, but hesitated and stared past her to another water-born pokemon. Realising Cy was distracted, Vron followed her mon’s gaze. They were barely off the coast Olivine, but Vron could make out Yandria sailing atop of a kind-eyed Milotic.

A smile flashed across Vron’s face and she waved to her childhood friend, but Yandria refused to repond. She was pouting from her perch on her Milotic, clutching at her fancy boots, refusing to let them get wet.

Vron’s lowered her hand, but her smile didn’t fade. She wished her friend luck then turned back towards the open waters and to where she could just make out the first of the whirl islands. With a gentle word to Splash and a growl from Cy, their journey through the islands began...
