And now for something COMPLETELY different...No seriously- out of character much? ... Well- to explain- there is a NEW MONSTERS INC FILM coming out--- in the future (Prequel to Monsters Inc)... July 2013 - Best birthday present EVER!
And my fave character- Randall... *sniffle*
Well- my first fic ever was about him--- and how he lost his parents... It's a pretty shockingly bad story- considering I wrote it when I was... 13-14? Or something mental... And it's not even finished-! *dramatic sigh*
But yeah!
ANYWAY!

Oh, my gosh...Randall's mother is just so beautiful I can't stop looking at her. O.O
Everything in the picture is just beautifil and lovely that it brings joy to me seeing Randall as a kid with his parents. You actually drew Randall's parents and not a lot people draw them, only write about what they looked like.

What gets me- is that when I do see fanart of his parents- the look so similar to him- and that doesn't sit right with me for some reason... In my mind, no monster is alike- and if you mixed Ran's parents up- they'd make him~ <3 Haha- I hope that makes sense!

You're right too, no two people or monsters are alike.
My character, is a dragon/gargoyle hybrid so she has two very different magical genes and blood in her DNA.

Monsters Inc. It's an old Pixar movie from 2001...

I'm not holding my breath for anything positive insofar as Randall is concerned in "Monster University". We know he'll be in it, but probably won't be treated well at all, but is more likely to simply be portrayed as someone who was evil from the moment he was conceived. Pixar could be bringing him in as just a form of patronization to his fans. I hope they prove me wrong, but nothing they have done with Randall so far gives me any hope. Sorry to be such a downer, but it is what it is.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do- They might surprise me! They might have Waternoose starting to manipulate Ran at the start- They might have hints--- of something - anything! XD
In any case, it'll definitely be an inspiration to get me drawing/writing him again~ <3

I don't think Waternoose will be in it, since it takes place at college before any of them were hired, and since Waternoose's voice actor is dead, Pixar probably won't bring back that character, just like they didn't have Doc Hudson in "Cars 2". I'm hoping they will surprise me with Randall's portrayal, though. I'm just not counting on it.

All I'm really praying for is a bit more backstory- What turned him down the path he took in the first movie- and so on~ If I get that, I'll be more than happy~ Ecstatic even~ ;D

I'd be fairly happy with a backstory, to show what turned Randall down the wrong path, sorta like what Lucas did with Anakin Skywalker, rather than an unrealistic take that Randall was simply bad from the very start. No company is ever going to hire anyone like that for a high-risk position, and no college is going to tolerate it, either, not if there is a pattern of not getting along with others. Still, though, unless Pixar plans on resolving whatever conflict occurred between Randall and Mike and Sulley, it's rather pointless, and the two of them getting revenge on him in the original movie, basically lynching him, was NOT a resolution of that at all!

Of course not... But... it was a 'kids' film (and I understand they also included adult humour to keep parents/teens happy)- but they're mostly pandering to a younger audience... For little kids, chucking Ran through that door resolved the issue... But for us, individuals who understand how the world can change people/monsters and make them who they are- it isn't enough to just throw a character away and forget about him...
Interestingly... it's only in recent movies- like Toy Story 3 that I've started to see real character/villain development- so who knows-! Let's just hope they realise their audience is older and wiser and will expect more story/plot/character development this time around... *crosses fingers*

THAT is what ticked me off about "Toy Story 3". Pixar had this "villain" character(Lotso), who obviously had a painful and sad back-story that made him the way he was in the movie, so it was more than implied that he didn't start out "evil". BUT, just when you think that they were going to redeem him through a new friendship, they were like, "OK, do we redeem this guy, and show people that just because someone has done some bad things and been through some bad stuff themselves, that caused them to become callous and cold, that they aren't beyond hope and can still find the good within themselves with the help and guidance of a patient friend? Naw, let's just stick with that jaded old Saturday morning kiddie-toon formula of 'once bad, always bad' and then get rid of the guy!" I mean, REALLY, Pixar? Are you guys THAT shallow and scared to stir the waters a little bit?

Haha~ <3 I'm sorry- I don't really want to hate on Pixar, they've given us so so much (Randall included), so it's hard for me to agree whole heartedly that they're the bad guys here... You're points are all valid- but I feel that not all 'hard done by' characters will instantly turn around and be 'good' either... Granted, it would've been nice to see Lotso actually turn over a new leaf- I personally wanted to see that- but to say Pixar is shallow for making that call seems a bit... harsh...? Maybe?
I'm obviously not as passionate as you on the subject, but it's refreshing to see~ <3
