Description
Perhaps Jack ought to have tossed the magical beans out like his mother told him to....Haha~ this isn't really supposed to be Jack-and-the-Beanstalk-esque, but that's what it reminds me of... it's actually a pretty gruesome aspect of a story I was writing, in which these "weeds" inject their victims with virus-like seeds that gestate within the host, absorbing the blood it needs to survive. After a while, the host begins to run a little dry, and thus the virus compels them to find more--from other organisms. Mmm, zombies! By the time the seedlings are ready to sprout, the host is dead, and the pretty little flowers have some nice, nutritious human fertilizer to grow in.

Hey! I remember a story just like this! It was a Dean Koontz one called 'Miss Atila the Hun'.It started off with a recluse old farmer going out into his land to check the crops. He was taken over by an alien entity that was regocnised by the farmer as 'Seed.' It took control of him, and all the people in the town execpt for a young teacher, the meaning of the odd title. When 'Seed' took over someone, black tentrils would burst from their chests and mouths and wrap up the victim.
It turned out that the people would go free after a while, but most of them went insane from the experience.Seed would continue to use the humans as a spy. But the good thing was that it gave you immortality, so yeah, I guess if you don't mind being controlled by a freakish seed thingo its all good.

Wow--I like some of Dean Koontz's books, but I've never heard of that one! Sounds wicked though; might have to find it!

Its called Night Fears, and its a collection of horror stories that my dad found in a second hand bookshop. There are some other stories in it by Edward Bryant and Robert R McCammon.

Love your mini story about weeds. it half rips of aliens but you've come up with enough background to make it your own.
Great shit mate

Wow, now that you mention it, it does sound a lot like the Alien parasite things! [shudder] Those used to creep me out to no end when I was a kid... the idea of being helpless, unable to escape the something growing inside of you... it must've traumatized me to the point where I forgot about it. So much for being original, eh?

Yeah, it sounds similar but your idea was great. they live off all your blood and nurtiants. where as alien just needs a host to carry their young like a pregnant woman.
Plus if you were taking over the human race your flower power could be spread by the wind, people breathe in the pollen particles and then everyone on the planet turns into one of them.
You should write a book about it, or a movie.
i like the idea alot
