Absolutely. For me, he summed up everything that is Holmes. It's just so sad watching him decline into illness as the series progressed.

It's terribly sad, and so upsetting that he didn't realize at first that he was ill, and thought it was the role that made him like that... Any form of depression is terrible and you can see he doesn't look as well in later episodes :/

Just watched The Dancing Men on ITV3. JB looks so well and seems to be loving the role. Makes his decline even sadder...
