Description Making poems can make you hungry
Hungry for the words to people a blank sheet
With characters and dots and lines and spaces
That strives to be a whole
As it fits to weave into one united
But fails to fill a gaping hole

Making poems in your head can make you hungry
And writing it makes you starve all the more
As you pour out with your reason
All the feelings you keep within your core
But like a vampire, it drains you
Until you have nothing left to pen
But despite this, you crave it
And like cocaine you type or scribble
Coaxing your sickening soul to create again

Making poems can make you hungry
For the finer things your person cannot attain
Or it can make you hunger to provide for those
Who have nothing left in hand but pain

Making poems can fill you
Although it can do so only partway
For as it gives it takes back from you
Like a fickle child lends a toy on a leash
So you'd come and play
Never really wanting you to go and sod off
But never really asking you to stay

Well, writing words on a blank canvas
Can make others hunger for so much more
As every touch and taste and sound and breath
And feeling
Burns and sears and tears and gnaws
And bites and rips and shreds and claws
Into their very heart
But it feeds them like a drug, a temporary peace
From constant strife

(Writing poems makes you hungry
Hungry to encompass the unfathomable Illusion
Of Life)

Writing poems wring out every hollow ache and sob
And every line in ink or tears or blood or spittle
They spell out every laugh and shriek giggle,
Every inch of love
And ounce of spite
Can paint the gold of day
Or the sable night

Yes writing poems can make you hungry
Hungry for the things you'd rather wish you had
Or wish others had the right to have
It will make you ravenous for truth (or how you see it)
And it will make you groan in the need to lie
Making poems will drive you mad for living
And remind you gently that you too must die
Making poems will make you hunger
Because writing poems is a Power

To write a poem is to write a Life
