Description
~~~Renfro just stood there observing his own monitor. Then, he glanced over and picked up a picture off his desk. It was a group picture, a large group. There in the middle was him, sitting, with a multitude of young adults and children around him. Some of the others in the picture had large red marks across their face, drawn on with permanant marker. He had crossed them out of the picture, removing memory of them. He looked at one particular child though. A young girl with glowing red hair. He snarled, throwing the picture on the ground, glass shattering. The workers around him looked up, startled. He just ignored them, and they went back to work. He looked down at the picture, his eyes falling on this girl. He hated her, oh how he hated her. She was nothing but trouble, and she HAD to go...
~~~
"Annie...Annie get up." I was being shook, but for reasons unknown. I opened my eyes, and Max was leaning over me, his face close to mine. We both blushed, but he pulled me to my feet. I stared at him, and he stared back. "Just...don't move Annie...no sudden movements." He was mumbling, and I was confused, horribly. I whispered softly, "Maxwell....what's going on...?"
"Slowly look to your left...Slowly!" He whispered sharply, and I almost jerked back around, but I just kept moving. Rebecca was still sleeping in the chair, peacefully, her face calm. Shff..shff...shff....
My eyes widened as I saw what could've been the ghost of Jacob Marley approach her. But it msot definatly wasn't. It looked like that beast I had killed awhile back, but larger. It was sheer black, and walking upright. It looked at us, and I almost screamed. But then I noticed something: the lack of eyes on the creature. I whispered again, pressing myself to Max's side. "What..is it...?"
"I dunno...but we've gotta do something about it..."
"C-Can it hear us?"
"I think it can..I also think that it's...looking for us.." Shff...shff....shff.... "I have an idea Annie.."
"I'm all ears.." He glanced at the open door, and the sludge trail it had dragged behind it. "Being as loud as possible, I'm going to run out the door, taunting the thing, basically begging for it to follow me. As soon as we're gone, you and Rebecca scram." I stared at him like he was the missing piece to the Three Stooges. "No, we're sticking toge-"
"Annie. We all know it's probable that all of us won't live...and if I don't, it's just collateral damage." He touched my cheek softly. I stared at him, obviously pissed now. "You're nuts. Completely insane." He smiled and hugged me, then mumbled in my ear. "Don't do anything crazy, Annie..."
"Not as crazy as what you're about to do...." I sighed moving away from him. His golden blonde hair was tassled, and his eyes were emotionless. He stared, opened his mouth to say something, then stopped, turning to the black mass. Shff...shff...shff... "Hey, ugly!!" He shouted, kicking at something laying around, a broken pipe. The mass turned, and let out a horrible groan, and it charged. It wasn't very fast, but it moved at a good pace. Max looked at me one more time before he ran out the door, slipping somewhat on the ooze, and turned down the hall. The creature bardged out after him, close on his heels. I stared at the doorway, then bit my lip. "Maxwell..."
I then heard a whimper, and I glanced over towards Rebecca. She was wide awake, and completely mortified. I walked to her side, and she threw herself at me, her arms flying around me as she started talking (at a much too fast rate, mind me). I patted her head, and tried to calm her down. I didn't succeed, but it wasn't quite a failure. "We have to go, Rebecca.."
"W-Where's Maxwell?" She stuttered, and I sighed wearily. "He'll..be back..." I tried to smile, but it didn't work. She frowned. "In the mean time, let's just find a way out of here..." I took her arm and lead her out of the room. I pulled out my zippo and a cigarette, lighting it up. I was flustered now. "A-Annie..I had this weird dream.."
"Hm! Tell me about it...." I rolled my eyes. She started drawling on about this pointless dream she had. Though I barely listened, it helped pass time. The usual silence around here was unbearable. "And just as the unicorn licked my hand-" She suddenly stopped talking. I slowed to a stop, turning to look at her. She was staring in horror at the end of the hall. Shff....shff...shff..... "Oh hell no...."
I groaned and pushed her infront of me. "Run!!" I shouted as the black beast hurtled down the hall. I caught a clance at the rows of teeth in it's mouth, and saw a piece of navy blue fabric with blood on it, and o nit's chest, more blood and bullet holes. "Maxwell..." I gasped, then shook my head, pushing Rebecca along. Then, suddenly, someone grabbed her and pulled her into another room. "Rebecc-!" I was dragged along as well. It was dark, I didn't like that. Then, a light flickered on, and there stood the pale boy with the straight jacket. "Y-You!?!" I exclaimed, andhe winced. "D-DOn't yell..he may hear us..."
"Who...?" I mumbled. "T-The man...he can't hear us if we whisper.."
"Man...?" I rolled my eyes, then looked over at a figure propped up on the wall. Blonde, blood matted hair, a ripped uniform...."Max!!"

When death is involved, I am calm...I just don't want Maxwell dead. XDD
I think I like the story so much because there's no cheesy romance crap that's in today's society.
