You don't need a Photoshop, SFM has a bunch of tools that can enhance your image, you just need to use them.

once again, being an sfm newbie, i have no idea what SSAO is. but if someone who is as good in sfm as you thinks it would make this look good, then i will use it, after i find out what it is.

Have a quick breeze through Jimer Lins' SSAO tutorial, it helped me a lot. I'll see if I can post a link.
