I first read the book. Then saw the movie and I SWEAR TO GOD... Tom Hanks was in my mind when reading about Paul Edgecombe. The same goes to Michael Jeter with Eduard Delacroix.

Harry Potter is an awesome book series as well and the movies are really good too.
It's true, seeing all your favourite characters suddenly how the director pictured them is just as facinating as reading it and get to know all those characters.

John Coffey's death was as bad as Eduard Delacroix'. It's just the whole emotional thing. That he wasn't guilty of the murder of two children, the men around him crying, the firm last handshake of Paul (where you remember the unsure first one immediately) and of course John's words: "Don't put me in the dark. I'm afraid of the dark."
My heart broke into little pieces.
Sam Rockwell seems to always play the psychos. 
And Percy should be dying that stupid ass >__> i hate him.
