My headcanon is that Ty Lee is Pema's mother/grandmother. Jinora even looks a little like her, too.

That might very well be.
I have a theory that Amon is actually Bumi, Aang and katara's son.
For one thing he is shown using bending removal... like how Aang did with Ozai... How could he learn that, save for learning it from somone, and that might have been his father.
And Bumi is not a bender.... where his siblings are. That could possibly weigh heavy on a person's psyche with parent's like what he has.

I think Amon is or is related to Jet. (because of course he isn't dead.) He hated firebenders with a passion to match them; he was *nearly* killed by a bender of his own nation; he fell in love with a waterbender who in turn fell for an airbender.
It all fits together perfectly.
And honestly, as a Kataang shipper, imagining any cloudbabies turning evil or even reasonably antagonistic makes my heart hurt. (Tenzin has already done a number on me with his belligerent attitude.

He could be related to Jet. (although the creators did admit he WAS dead, lol. But then again, So did George Lucas with Boba Fett, and the fans never accepted it. And thus he was ressurected. So who knows?).
He'd have to LEARN forcebending... which in turn would technically MAKE him a bender (Bumi too for that matter), so in all terms Amon is a hypocrite.
I could see why. Althogh as we learned from The Avatar and the FireLord, there was and is great good and evil in every nation. And there was of course that evil Airbender who helped Sozin find the air temples, proving air benders or those related to them could be evil. (and I am an omnishipper unless its guy with guy or girl with girl, lol).

That's true, but there is still wiggle room because we didn't *actually* see him die.
See, I originally thought that spiritbending was unique to the Avatar only, and that he would use Dai Li mind tricks on Korra to get her to take away peoples' bending. Guess that's not what's going on.
That evil airbender thing, I don't consider strictly canon, though. :-/
I usually prefer hetero pairings. But I love reading hetero or others equally- gender shouldn't really matter as long as everyone is believably in character and the plot is good. And Mai/June is too good to pass up. Just think of the puns.
