Description
A battle system I made from scratch. ALL code in the frame.I was curious if I could since AS3 well be coming out with flash 9. I figured the least I can do is code 100% in AS2. YA!
edit: Btw you can input your own names too!

Everything is based on the starting stats, which frankly gets a bit boring. Of course, the simplest other option is have a randomised damage around the stats, but that's just as bad really. Try making it timing based; an attack and a defend button. If you press the defend button within a three frame margin, you do a counter that does some damage back to him instead, and then you have to try and make your attack unpredictable (though taking more than a couple of seconds means taking a hit anyway). Try something like that and battles could become quite fun

Gahh! This is awesome
Idea: Have Attack, Spell & Shield Butons:
Attack = -(random) to other player
Spell = -(between 5and10) to the other player
Shield = +3 defence to the user's character

Coolxorz! Except me and P2 got locked in an endless battle because both our defenses were bigger than the other's attack, so no one did any damage. I suggest having the attack range at 5-8 and the defense range at 1-4 that way someone wins each time.

Cool battle system, better than anything that I have made, but it could still use work. Try putting a cap on the number of rolls that you can take at the start (I would recommend 5), and speed up the battle a bit, or randomize the actions more. This is a good start, but with more work, it could be awesome.
The graphics are alright, but I would advise adding something like a special attack option that looks different, can potentially do more damage, but has a penalty associated with its use.
One last thing I would recommend is making the attacks more powerful. It is kind of strange to have player 2 hacking away at player 1 and doing 0 damage time and again.
Great start, now follow through.

Thanks for the idea's. I've made plenty of battle systems and rpg's before and am not new to it but this is the first one done in 100% action script 2. The other have either been in action script 1 or a mingle of both.
