This is very provocative. It brings to mind so many other images and philosphical ideologies. It makes me question everything we do. Who and what will we become years from now. What legacy will we leave for those who will follow in our foot steps. Will we be looked upon as fools for our actions or will we be venerated for our professed strength and perserverance. Beatiful image. Frank Lloyd Wright would be proud.

Nice image, although I disagree with the concepts behind it. I could write a many page response about this, I'm going to keep it extremely simple :
Man is nature. We come from earth, we are devised of many, almost an infinite amount of components and factors that make us what we are; all coming from, matter, from beyond our atmosphere, and soiled into earth. This is true for anything coming from earth.
The only difference in nature is :
You have sophistication and the unsophisticated. [as J (hypertron)] likes to put it. You have humans and other forms of life that devise tools, that have the ability to logically think and don't have to fully rely on instinct. There is a big gap in nature, yes. But all, imo is nature, which is unpiloted choas.
So when I see this image, I would think :
Establishment and Sophistication vs. Unpiloted Chaos.
This basically runs along the EXACT same lines..but it's just my interpretation of what man IS. Man is not running parallel to nature, man coincides with nature, man is apart of nature.
or something..erk...my mind is very distracted right now, no matter how much i reread this..i'll be missing points in there..people at my house hehe...
take care comp.olog ist

I love when people can see art in the mundane. Per the subject matter, although the artificial gains a lot of strength from the gentle diagonal, the natural with its sinewy stretch feels like muscle and strength. I'll bet on the stick, for aesthetic reasons alone.
And congrats on DD!

well, surprise me yet again man. another day im absent, you recieve the coveted daily deviation once more. and its well deserved this time as well, not only a great pic but it also has meaning. i should hope the tree lasts longer, to show that we are really not the rulers of this planet, it has been here long before we came to be, flourished and survived without us. we are of little consequence to it, i think, and it will continue to go on long after we do not. our buildings will fall, with plate techtonics shifting and sliding over the manmade objects we leave behind. but to stop rambling, really nice pic with a great idea behind it.

This is a wonderful contrast between man and nature. I recently just got back from a trip devoted to architecture and I was able to see something that I never thought I'd get to see. It was when man intertwines with nature so well that he does not interrupt the natural flow of a hillside. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.
Therefore seeing this reminds me of that. I enjoy the obviousness of it all as well as the abstract feel I still have.
I am utterly amazed at this and I don't recall seeing much of your photography so I'll now be on the lookout.
