Description A raven and a coyote being goofballs. For because he likes his corvids and his yotes'.

Anyway, it's markers with coloured pencil on top. And a cheap digital background. Yes I know the lighting makes no sense but I'm lazy. The coyote's face is too large. Same issue.

Didn't those 2 steal the sun once?

Wow... the quality of this one is amazing! You are getting really good at the traditional stuff! (way better than me at this point!)

The expressions and coloring are just excellent! ... and honestly, the whole picture is! You even made the raven nice and shiny! The background is nice, too and complements the foreground colors well. So well, in fact, that I probably wouldn't have even noticed that it was digitally added (or even present) if you hadn't mentioned it to me!

And I *love* the coyote's eye for some reason. It's very pretty and smooth (/me drools whenever he sees something smooth-looking). I like that you add little hairs coming off of it, too. I love his tongue too - it's makes the piece look very cartooney, which is important here.

I won't even mention the "mistakes", 'cause I'm sure you already know what they are, and the whole piece is just so damn good that they are miniscule anyway!

I think that this might just be my favorite picture of yours thus far! Hooray!! This one must go on my wall with the others! I'm serious... /me goes to post it right now! Please do make more of these!!

Heh, I'm surprised about this honestly. I don't really think it's that great of a picture compared to some of my other stuff... but sure. And when you say "make more," make more what? Coyote and Raven pictures?

... which brings up another thing I should mention - I think a lot of times your backgrounds are overdone... you try too hard! Your drawings are wonderful, but sometimes adding a complicated background can ruin the piece! I'm noticing a distinct pattern that the pieces of yours that I like best are often the ones with either no background, or a very simple background.

I mean, using a solid color can sometimes make the piece look terrible, too... /me shudders at some of the greens and blues you've used in the past. And pattern-based backgrounds (like gray clouds) tend to be equally terrible. If a background is present, it should complement the piece and not work against it. Sometimes a plain white background is the answer, too. I love the picture, "Cute When You're Sleeping...", exactly the way it is, and if you had added a background, it might just have killed my love for it.

I think that in the future, you should focus on either making sure your backgrounds really complement the piece, or leaving the background out of the piece, because I think it's making a huge difference in the visual appeal of your drawings.

Also, I think colored pencil tends to be a terrible tool for making backgrounds, anyway. (unless, maybe if it's a cartoon-style background, which would function almost more as a "side"-ground than a "back"-ground, if you understand what I mean...) Watercolor might be a little better, but... only if you're good with watercolor!

White is really okay as a background though... and so is computer-assisted stuff (like the simple gradient you added here), just as long as it actually looks good, and isn't an attempt to simply fill in the extra white space!

Actually, I think the background may have been specifically what did wonders for this one. If you look at the pencil drawing alone, I'm sure it looks very similar to your other pieces, but when you added the background the way you did, it changed it into something completely new! It's magic!

Apparently, very simple things can make a huge difference!

Well, I meant everything I said. It is an excellent picture - I've stopped to look at it many times tonight.

Make more... awesome pictures! I don't like ravens or coyotes specifically, just that this is an extraordinarily well-made picture, and has some awesome spirit in it as well!

It's almost like the raven is preparing to pull out the hairs above the eye. It's like, "Hold still... cause this WILL hurt."

It looks a bit stylized, which certainly isn't a bad thing. My only major complaint is that the perspective on the tongue isn't really believable. It looks flat.

I like it a lot! A raven looks really great and I love coyote's eye and fur.
