Description Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, U.S.A
The Aqua Lotus

A view from the front doorstep of our hotel room when we stayed on Oahu at the Aqua Lotus

I'd stay here again, the hotel was far enough away from downtown that it wasn't too busy but close enough that it was only a 10 minute walk to the edge the city. We stayed right next to my utter love above all, the sea, as well as a lot of park space where you could always hear music from the various Tahitian dances that would pop up. Best of all we had a brilliant view of the sun set

The Lotus, which what we called the hotel for short, was amazing. We would have NEVER stayed at this place if we didn't have a Groupon, and next to the Grand Californian in Disneyland this is the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. Originally it was a apartment building, so the outside of the building was a little misleading to the inside, which was all renovated by the hotel. The lobby, despite the ceiling feeling a little low, was very grand to me in it's simple open way with a few large round chairs and two single bed sized couch-benches on the side with lovely artwork (though they could have turned the air-conditioning down). I liked spending time in the lobby because I could lie down on the couches and the coffee tables, which were glass topped with a section under the top where they placed books you could read, and I spend a lovely time looking through a interior design book and another book called Spectacle talking about everything from firework displays and flash mobs to things like Burning Man. Because the Lotus is right next door to the beach there was no pool of theirs, but I wasn't complaining, when we landed in Honolulu and got settled into our room, I took this picture and we headed straight to the beach. The Lotus supplies beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, sand mats and beach toys that people can take out for the beach. Not only that but they also have bikes you can take for a ride around. I was sold on the bikes, they were the cool sort of old-fashioned kind (at least they are to me) with the wide hand bars, basket and the cool design that I just love. I've always wanted a bike like this so riding it alone was just a dream. The Lotus also has free wine at some point at night, which my grandparents (really grandma) as well as my great aunt and uncle who were at the hotel too were ecstatic about. And it wasn't just one glass and that's it, it was like all you could drink, pour yourself. So from about 6:00 - 9:00 ish you could always find some people gathered around the lobby with nearly overflowing wine glasses. In the morning it was the same, just with coffee and hot chocolate. The Lotus also offered free Yoga sessions in the nearby park by the beach at 7am on Thursdays and Sundays though when I planned to go I decided against it when I got back to the hotel at 12 at night after visiting with my aunt and her friends. In truth though the best part about this hotel has to be elevator.

I am not joking.

While the rest of the hotel was sort of calm and relaxed, the moment you stepped into this elevator it felt like the lights were going to go off, strobe lights would start flashing and alcohol would be served. My explanation for this crazy elevator playing remixed rave beats was to promote conversation between people where generally there is a sort of odd silence in this small place. And I have bases for this theory, because EVERY single time we were in the elevator with someone else we'd all start talking, about the elevator. There wasn't one time that I went up or down in that thing without talking to the other people in that elevator. I liked going up and down by myself just so I could dance xD

And it's here that I finally escaped the closet
