Nah, not in winter at least, plus we tend to check out the water before letting the dogs in. We've only had one case where we scared to gator off before letting the dogs in farther down the creek. Smaller gators leave us be and vice versa, you really only have to worry about 7 foot plus, everything else leaves you alone.
