M/V Saginaw was launched in 1953 and was originally named the SS John J. Boland

In 1999 she was sold to the company Lower Lakes Towing, and renamed Saginaw. In 2007 her steam turbine engines were replaced with diesel engines changing her registration from SS to MV.

Now at 70 years old she is one of the oldest ships operating on the Canadian side of the Great Lakes
