Dice Roll was born in Canterlot, to a rather poor family, to a gambling addict father and a depressed mother.

her father became more and more sickly, and so requied Dice's help to move. He still insisted on going to the Casino.
Dice had to come with him, and had to watch him waste the families money.

Until one time when a waitress accidentally handed the young filly wine, too busy to notice she gave wine to an underage filly.

Drunk of of her mind, the filly gained enough courage to push her father of the slots machine, and by some crazy logic of her drunk mind, decided to play the machine herself. At first nothing happened. she lost 9 bits, while her father started burping on the floor.

And then the slots hit 7-7-7.
And on the next try they hit 3 cherries. And then 3 lemons.

In the next hour, the filly transformed her father's 100 bits into a small fortune of 5000 bits. that sum was enough to sober the father.

In that day, she gained her cutie mark. But her luck started to end from this day. first her father died of liver failure. Then her mother refused to allow the filly to gamble. And then her mother sent the filly away at all. The filly, not knowing what to do, headed for the Betting capital of Equestria: Las Herradura.

The filly roamed the streets, begging for bits by day, and multiplying them into hundreds of bits by night.

In time, she earned herself a Name among the Casino managers. Refusing to let the young mare into the Casinos.
However, the money she earned so far allowed her to rent a room in a motel. It was there she met the Stallion of her life. or so she thought. After Several nights, Dice discovered she's pregnant. The next day, her love left with her entire earning.

Forced to leave once again, Dice wandered along the roads, searching for every opportunity to bet. Sometimes she lost, but most of the time, she managed to earn herself bits or food.

Eventually, the pregnancy made it hard for her to continue to wander from place to place. Without much choice, she had to settle in a small village of Horsefeather.
After a month, she gave birth to Whisper, who looked every bit as similar to her father. After several weeks, Dice was ready to move on.

Eventually she came into Ponyville, where she applied to a job at the local newspaper. The place was rundown, ugly, and was a two story builidng, and had only one Employee: Six points, A Pegasus who liked to listen to stories and gossip, and put them on the paper.

Agreeing to the job of Secretary-journalist-helper-thing, as Six point himself put it, Dice only applied for the fact that as well as the earning of 10 bits (which was taken straight from Six Point's own salary of 15 bits), Six Points also offered her a place to stay in his flat above the small office, as well as food and help in raising Dice's filly, whisper.
