Description
The Switchback is a Hot Wheels Original Design. The design of the vehicle was retro inspired, blending elements of the classic hot rod pick-up trucks with modern lines.
Originally the design was to debut as part of the Highway 35 along with 4 other designs.
When HW35 became the World Race, Switchback remained in the lineup but got a special paint scheme as part of the Wave Rippers. The original 2-tone paint scheme was used on the First Editions.

Tscherne says his design was inspired by the old Ford F-150 design with some design elements from the Ford F-100 such as the dogbone grill. The car was lowered and given big wheels and surfboards to give it a California Custom feel. A roll pan and valance in the rear helps to accentuate the twin pipes. The two-tone paintscheme as seen on the first release was also done by himself, inspired by hot rodding and early 2000s custom sports trucks.
