Thing is, This looks much better than the new movie turtles. The Henson TMNTs were basically full body Muppets and that was great, now immortal, look.
These newest turtles are like something from a horror movie, rejects from the Island of Dr. Moreau. They look too real and very creepy, not something I would visit upon children. Similar to Bay's TRANSFORMERS they look awesome but are visually hard to make sense of because they are so detailed.
The Turtles always seemed to work when they were at least a little cute, and a little cool.
Your turtle works for the same reason every other version worked, part cute part cool.
