here is a shot my friend allen j miller took two years later, almost to the exact day. This is not a well known place, and certainly not a well known tree. Its amazing that we both found this shot

Beautiful shot.
I've lived in southern Utah my entire life, but have yet to see Arches. :/

that's kind of ironic! Have you been to Zion or Bryce? They are beautiful. Utah is one of my favorite states. I hope to go to the Canyonlands next fall.

Yes, I've been to both. (Sorry I took forever to reply.) I live about 1.5 hours from Zion, and I go there for work sometimes. I've yet to go to Canyonlands, or any of the parks in northern Utah. The coral sand dunes between Kanab and Lake Powell are great to see, if you get the chance, too.

Very clear gorgeous shot, like how the branches frame the opening in the rocks and the color composition is stunning.

thank you kindly. It's a very spiritual place -- Arches National Monument. Very surrealistic. I love going there. I hope you have occasion to visit the Southwest also one day. It is truly vast and amazing.

thanks very much. there is a very interesting story behind it. the tree is in an out of the way place and not really so noticeable. I photographed it Nov. 23 2005 and found an uncannily similar photo of the same tree on another person's page -- just from a slightly different angle. He took the photo Nov. 22 2007 -- exact same tree, within 24 hours of 2 years to the same date.
