Alabaster’s highly esteemed parents reared him into a chivalrous young stallion that they might deem worthy of sharing in their long-time noble heritage. They wanted him to establish a place for himself in the herd and so were sure to drill education and etiquette into every fiber of his being. He practices proper posture, eloquent speaking, and eating with little bites like any well-mannered Olde Herd horse. He enjoys the sophisticated ways of life; philosophy, religion, and culture. Altogether he may look to be the ideal nobleman of such an enlightened herd as the Olde, but underneath all that classy refinement, he’s a shallow overbearing pompous snob. Due to his high breeding as well as overly fussy parents, Alabaster sees himself as a superior being, beyond the mental as well as physical characteristics shared by all the other mediocre horses. One could undeniably go so far as to call him a narcissist. He offers the ladies a flower now and then, but mostly he enjoys being on the receiving end. In fact, he expects it. Who wouldn’t want to shower him in gifts after basking in the shadow of his astounding brilliance?
Hard work is a virtually nonexistent experience in Alabaster soft life. After all, his unblemished white hide and dainty little frame shouldn’t need to be exposed to the unrelenting elements and otherwise dangerous circumstances of protecting the herd or running errands and messages across treacherous grounds. He might chip a hoof! If he really is forced to do something even mildly strenuous, you can be sure he’ll let everyone know of his pains and sorrows.
Alabaster’s perfectionist side is most prominent when it comes to his appearance. Not one hair can be out of place! He may use all manner of ridiculous remedies and application to keep his exterior top notch. Plants, found objects, or even the help of another are all subject to one day become part of his array of beauty products. Being preposterously hygienic goes without saying when one is this obsessively vain. His love of cleanliness broadens into his reception of others as well. He isn’t shy when it comes to reminding a fellow herd mate that it may be their bath time. Alabaster’s extensive upkeep of his practically glowing white hide offers more than a potential source of temporary blindness, but a beacon to predators. Because he refuses to roll in the dust and soil his coat for safeties sake, he is as exposed as one could get in the wild. Snow is really his only source of camouflage.
Despite his almost intolerable temperament, Alabaster has a peculiar quirk that many find either intriguing or stupid. He is a true romanticist at the core. Not merely in the trifles concerning love, but he possesses a sort of whimsical dreaminess. Whether he is starring at his own reflection or watching the shapes in the clouds, he has a tendency to drift off into fanciful contemplations. How this fog gives him a mysterious quality, or what a sweet tune that robin sings. He has a far-reaching imagination when he allows it to surface
Often times, Alabaster is so immensely occupied with himself it may seem he lives in a whole other world. It is simply impossible for him to imagine that a fellow equine might not like him for his snobbish tendencies and by some strange twist of nature be immune to his charming smile and beautiful features. He often takes rude comments with a laugh, thinking the speaker must be joking, or more often then not, he didn't even realize the puny little commoner was addressing him at all.
For all his faults, Alabaster is a devote believer and supporter of the unicorns and herd lore. Almost to a fanatical point. Though it isn't common for him to preach and pressure others into the faith, he is a strong believer with an unshakable trust and faith within his immortal unicorn brethren. He visits the prayer pool regularly and one of his biggest dreams is that the unicorns may one day return to the land of Chevalin.

History:
Alabaster's life started out fairly uneventful, free of traumatic events and life altering circumstances. He was born to an esteemed, highly ranked couple whose linages could be traced back into the Olde herd as far as anyone could remember. His proud, pious father Aaron came from a family of strict religious upbringing. He was a respected, wizened Advisor who served under the reign of Valentin. His mother, Pastel, though religious was considerably more lenient in her ways. Her family line was known to be artful and often took up the roles of mages or healers. Pastel herself was a healer. The couples first child, a filly, was called Catrice, named according to Aaron's religious family traditions. Their younger son, however, was named according to a tradition in Pastel's family line, a name expressing the foal's color and beauty, Alabaster.
Alabaster had always been a bit particular about his appearance, and his mother was adamant that he learn proper hygiene. But it was not yet beyond him to roll in the dust with his childhood friends or splash through muddy creeks now and then. One day, shortly after the herd had reached a pleasant grazing place among the ruins of the city, Alabaster found himself meandering along the fringes of an overgrown hedge. Upon finding a small break in the dense shrubbery, he slipped through the green leafy wall to find himself standing in a lovely little clearing dotted with wildflowers. A small pool sat sparkling amid it all, the elegant tendrils of a young willow tree skimming delicately across the crystal clear surface. Something drew the young colt to the water’s edge, where he promptly froze in wonderment. There, starring back at him, was the most beautiful horse he had ever seen. In one way or another, a nearly impeccable mirror had managed to slip unscathed into the pool. Never before had Alabaster witnessed a reflection so near perfect as this. Before, he would glimpse his distorted image in puddles or rippling streams, but this was different. He would have stared in reverence at his admirable beauty all day if his parents had not come to fetch him away.
His family relations were typically dutiful, distinguished, and built on stiff principles of submissive respect. In other words, his parents expected a quite, obedient, perfect little boy who did as he was told. They drilled him with manners, proper conduct, and important lessons in the Olde herd legacies and lore. They were determined that their children become successful, productive members of the herd, even if it meant sacrificing a relationship built on love and kindness. Their high expectations were often taxing on young Alabaster and he was frequently stressed and even depressed, but he kept his shortcomings to himself, just as his parents had taught him. failure was simply not an option. Though Alabaster did not complain, he relished in the short respite between lessons that allowed to play with his friends or see his older sister.
His friends made up an unusual trio. First there was Eoos, a fiery mule-colt set on becoming a great knight. The unlikely friends met when Alabaster was still only a yearling. A game between the Olde herd colts got out of control and Alabaster soon found himself to be the unfortunate victim of a bully session in which he experienced a bit to much mud for his taste. Eoos stepped in and valiantly defended his new friend, creating a companionship that would last a lifetime.
Then there was Lukan, a big brown moresian, who also ventured into knighthood. He was quite and a little shy despite his size. Alabaster, taking pity on his fellow equine, decided to take the younger foal under his wing and teach him the fabulous ways of popularity, flirting, and other such outgoing traits. Though his program ultimately did little to change Lukan's nature, the two remain fast friends to this day.
At 17 years of age, Alabaster's life took an unexpected shift. He had studied hard in his time as a rook and was aiming for the ambitious position of an advisor, as his father had been. his parents had retired, or at least faded into the backdrop of herd activities with age, but their studious mentorship and prestigious names practically guaranteed him a spot in his chosen occupation. Alabaster's brother in-law, Thaddues, died in an accident and his blood sister, Catrice, soon followed. This left his niece, Arabella, an orphan. His parents were an older couple with quickly declining health, leaving Alabaster, as young as he was, the only capable family member left to take care of her. She was a sweet natured filly, but Alabaster wanted nothing to do with her guardianship. He still had so much to learn to achieve his goal! He tried to keep his distance from his new burden, dropping her off with older members of the herd whenever he found a chance. Over the years, the filly attempted to befriend her uncle, but to no avail.
At twenty years of age, Alabaster achieved his goal of becoming an advisor and took his place among the high ranking horses of the Olde. His niece, however, approached him soon after, making it clear to him she was tired of be ignored. With no small amount of regret, the white stallion apologized to the filly, accepting Arabella into his care. His parents had passed away by this time and Alabaster and Arabella were the last living horses of their line. A strong bond formed between the two and he now loves her as he would his own daughter.
A year later, Alabaster ran into a mare called Cherris, or rather, she ran into him. Despite their differences, Cherris began to fall in love with the narcissistic stallion. Initially, Alabaster turned her down, but eventually he softened toward the mare and it might have blossomed into something more if he hadn't laid eyes on Arietti...
At 25 years old, he met the beautiful mare known as Arietti and instantly felt she was the one for him. However...she wasn't quite perfect. Sure she was nearly as gorgeous as himself, but she was a little too bubbly and he felt he could fix her into becoming the well-mannered lady of his dreams. Though she had many suitors and admirers, but he saw himself as the obvious choice.
His 'finishing school' plan was completely ineffective, of course, and his love was unrequited. He bitterly saw this as his queue to move on.
Cherris again caught his attention, but by then it was to late.
While at the eerily glowing red prayer pool, the Olde oracle received a vision, and told the horses they must all meet at the land bridge. Alabaster adamantly refused. He would not risk himself or his niece on such a dangerous mission. His herd gave up on trying to convince him to go to the and bridge and headed off into a blizzard, leaving Cool Runnings, Arabella, and Alabaster behind. Cherris had chosen to go on the journey, and much to Alabaster's despair, she never returned.
Alabaster led his companions through the blizzard into the shelter of the city, but food was scarce and the cold nearly unbearable. After a cougar attacked and wounded Alabaster's leg, he reluctantly decided they would have to make the difficult journey to catch up with the rest of their herd mates.
Upon reaching their heard three days later, weakened and exhausted, Arabella and another mare, Nivinara, were stolen by the bachelors and war was declared. Alabaster raced across the crumbling land bridge to save his niece, and was met by another Olde horse, Tem, and a loner known only as Q. Successfully recapturing the stolen mares, the group returned by way of Vasska's temporary bridge made of ice.
Distraught over the loss of Cherris and having never had the chance to amend his mistakes and profess his love, the stallion drew on himself for console. He began collecting bits and pieces of mirrors, stashing them in an old cathedral and admiring his reflection on  the fragmented surfaces. This self-worship grew to an unhealthy level and he became to big headed for most of his peers to handle.
It was at this tense time that Alabaster ran into a mare named Angelia, or rather, she ran into him. It was practically Cherris all over again. The two quickly became friends and Alabaster followed the spirited mare on a number of adventures, if a bit reluctantly.
The war between Olde, Bachelor, and Exile took place. Alabaster did little to help, feeling his energy had been spent on his past few ventures and his leg was still wounded from the cougar attack.
When the war reached a stalemate and the herds withdrew into their own territories to plan for whatever was to come next, Alabaster spent what time he could spare with Angelia. His fondness for the pretty mare grew and marriage was soon on his mind. He would love to have a wife and foal to continue his bloodline and follow in his footsteps, not to mention a motherly figure for Arabella.
His hopes and dreams were crushed, however, when he discovered that Angelia had had an affair with an Exile named Outlaw and now carried his foal. A hidden frustration began to brew within the stallion. Why did every love he have end in such disaster? He began to lose something of himself. To make matters worse, a problem concerning his niece and his family's reputable name arose.

Pfft I'm so good at being vague XD Cause the bachelors caught their scent and think they can elude the trio by heading to the winding, dangerous mountain paths. Al and company would not have learned this, however, if it weren't for a hint from one of Ba'yaga's birdie friends.
