Description
Throw back a year ago and this was the original commission for this horse. She wanted a new and updated version. I tried to do one with her leg sticking out but it just wasn't coming together for me. For the use of Faint only on Wild Equines Version 3.

Feathers Feathers Feathers.... Oh how I hate feathers.. PLEASE be kind on them c.c I know they are horrible. I cannot seem to paint them well.. Any tutorials or help on that would be GREATLY appreciated. But I'd like critique on everything else!

First off I want to say this is a lovely piece! The background and horse you chose fit perfectly together.
I don't know how you do your hair but it looks amazing and I want your skills! Where the black hair turns white it's a little abrupt. I would add some black hairs to the white and some white hairs to the black to make it a softer transition. The feathers are also well done however they seem to end suddenly. I would have them come up a little farther on the leg and use a soft brush eraser on a low opacity so the hair kind of fades out.
The color change is very well done and I have a really hard time turning horses white. I can turn any other horse any other color but I can't turn it white so applause for you. I also love the eye! It's not dull and you can see some emotion in it. I don't think it needs to be changed.
The lighting on the horse is very well done, it really seems to be a part of the background. I would make the horse a little darker because it seems a little bright for the background but not so much that it stands out.
The cougar (mountain lion, or whatever you want to call it) is an interesting touch (but not in a bad way) and it definitely makes me wonder what it's doing there and if there's a story behind it. While the background blurring makes the horse stand out more, I don't think the cougar and the area where it's standing shouldn't be blurred. It's part of the image and should get some attention too.
It's a lovely piece of work and I think with a few tweaks it can be even better!

Thank you for the critique!
I will apply your critique to my next manip for sure! The only thing I wanted to clarify was the cougar. The requester asked for it in the manip, but she said she didn't want it to be too noticeable, as she wanted the eyes to be drawn upon the horse more then the cougar, lol <3

Oh ok, that makes sense. I might suggest then, either not blurring the cougar so much or adding some lighting effects to kind of "spotlight" the horse but still have the cougar visible.
