Description Preview of my Austerlitz project for school, which will probably be posted sometime in the next week. The Battle of Austerlitz is one of, if not, Napoleon's greatest victory, considered so by both historians and the man himself.
A note on the modeling: these guys are 1/72nd scale, about half the size of Warhammer. I also painted them at about 4 AM, with something about the shape of a small drybrush (it used to have a point!) so take these things into consideration....

I see some figures from Italery, Esci and maybe Zvezda for the composition, Right?

Are those bases from Warhammer or...?
Those custom-made moving trays also look nice.

Yep, they be Fantasy bases. The movement trays are from GW also... from a mail order box, to be exact. Heard you know Juustolainen, if only by DA and phone. We're good friends, go to the same school

Well, I do know him somehow. Lupus89 (you know her?) introduced him to my cousin Soiluan who lives in Kajaani. Small world, huh?

Whoa. This is really a quite tiny world. My cousin just said that itΒ΄s been proven that everyone in the Earth knows everyone else at least through (approx.) six people. Sounds amazing, but it seems to have been tested.

I wouldn't be all surprised if that's entirely true

Looking really good. I remember painting 1/72 figter jets as a kid, the pilots were really tiny... How many of these guys are you going to paint?

Well, they're already done, and there's about 150 or more, not counting horses

Ahhh, glorious 15mm minis

Every once in a while I love to paint some small scale. It's just grand to finish really MASSIVE armies in considerably less time than you would need for 28mm. Plus there is so much more diversity, especially when it's historical-themed.

Are these actually for playing or just for display on the school-project? From what I can see they look quite amazing, could be mistaken for 28mm models for sure.

Wonder how they'd fare against my Warmaster armies of Chaos and High Elves ~ they sure got a bunch of rifles, but we got deamons and dragons ;D

Yep, you said it. You can bust out anything in a short amount of time for little cash... and make it look nice. But, that's not really the point, is it? The point is being able to have a HUGE frickin' mass of Romans/barbarians/muskets/knights/tanks which makes you feel like god and get involved in some serious epic conquest....

After I purchased most of the minis for this (a little more than 30€ I was complaining to my bud Juustolainen that I ripped out so much dough.... He looks at me, says, "Excuse me, you almost bought a single Penitent Engine with that cash!" I shut up. Point taken.

School at the moment, hopefully wargaming later.

Indeed, indeed... war on epic scale is just grand. In fact, Warmaster ruined Warhammer for me. It's a better game, and the feeling of actually fighting something big is just lost in Warhammer after one tried his first 3000 points Warmaster battle.

30€ is quite okay, I'd say - are these from Old Glory? (They have some excellent Dark Ages-minis as well).

Have you picked a system yet for them?

I haven't picked up a system, but I did test-play a good one in Tampere, at Tracon, where the Helsinki Wargamin Club or some such had a table. Problem is, I don't remember what the name was, something with a couple capital C's in it. Helpful, I know. I'll think of it.

Nope, the guys in the pic are Zvezda plastics, the rest are Italeri. Surprising, eh?

Well, I was just going to recommend Warmaster and it's historical expansion Warmaster - Ancient Armies to you. Not exactly the era you need for the guys up there, but you might fell the need for some romans or vikings at some point in your life (or a massive battle set in the Warhammer-world) ;D

Oh, and Epic is... well, Epic too Titans FTW!

VIKINGAR! Huzzah!

So, yeah, get down with Warmaster Ancient Armies then, it's a great system, pretty much the best from GW since... uh... well, when they produced stuff that made you believe it's not all about them earning money but you having fun with the stuff as well ;D
