Description

Aw, shit, here we go again. just like old times. yeah bitch!

Surprise, motherfuckers, guess who's back from the dead

After lots of over thinking and worrying, he's here. cuz i missed him asdfghjk This has been waiting in the wings for few months and has been something I've been working on for much, much longer. i got impatient aha
ANYWAY HERE'S THE CHINCHILLA MAN CAW

dont read too closely please I SAID DONT READ IT-

EDIT: He's here! I'm so happy //cries

Name: Roderich Eckstein
Species: Cinccino
Gender: Male
Birthdate/Age: December 28th/ 32 years old
Height: 5’9” ft / 175 cm (not including ears)

Ability: Technician
Increases the power of moves which have a power of 60 or less by 50%.
Classes: Wayfinder
Putting all that knowledge to use, Roderich’s capable of sizing up environments and making plans. Though his learning was geared towards military combat, he knows how to analyze a fight to figure out how his team or him can best counter measurement it.
Weapon:
Dagger – A nine-inch dagger made of nickel and silver with a leather handle. It was commissioned during his time as a knight.
Small knife - A hidden knife stored on the inner side of his left boot for emergencies, as he is poor at bare hand-to-hand combat.

Inventory aka stuff he may be carrying in no particular order:
Grappling Hook - Good for scaling walls or pulling large objects. Only carried for specific missions or instances.
Rope - It’s a versatile tool, if not somewhat cumbersome to carry! Also only carried for specific reasons.
Flask - Usually contains gin or water. Even when it’s not full, Roderich will fiddle with it out of habit.
Little black book and graphite pencil - In case he needs to write something down. It’s mostly full of grocery lists, scraps of poetry, and basic notes. You think he’d write sensitive information down? You’re funny.
Handkerchief - Good for wiping away sweat and other uh stuff
Pocket watch - An antique family watch. Chained to his belt when on his person.
Gloves - They’re nice flexible gloves for work. Not much to say.
Reading glasses - Ooooollldd! Used for the aesthetic //shot// to clear the gaps in vision. Worn often at home or when doing paperwork.

Hometown: Ruchyke, Gold Road (no wonder he’s so tense).

Moveset:
Sing - A soft, soothing lullaby to put an enemy to sleep. The farther away they are, the less effective it is. If the target is too far to hear, it won’t work at all.
Substitute - Creates make a life size duplicate with a green-grey color, at the expense of half his health. It will block attacks or match his movements to confuse opponents. After it takes too much damage, it’s gone from the fight. Can be used twice during a battle: the first time safely, the second time with serious risk. Trying a third time will guarantee he passes out. While healing can help Roderich push himself to use it (again with risk), sleep is the best way to regain the full energy for the move.
Swift - A barrage of shining star-like projectiles appear from air and orbit around Roderich before being launched. Best used at a distance, as they’re harder to control in close combat. While they rarely, if ever, miss, they’re not terribly strong either and only cause shallow wounds.
Wake-Up Slap - A good, hard, backhand slap across the face that will wake foes (or allies) up. Works best when the opponent is asleep, otherwise it’ll feel like a normal slap. Used mainly to counter Rock/Steel types.

Personality:
Guarded to the point of seeming aloof, Roderich is a very private person who rarely shares details about himself. Weary of others, he airs to the side of caution and is mindful of his tongue. Though very restrained he’s eloquent, it being more of a skill than anything. Working as a knight gave him a keen eye for the behavior of other people and how best to handle them. Er-usually. Chaotic personalities tend to throw him for a loop, cracking his composure. When stressed or irate, he’ll become impatient and short tempered until he finally lashes out. On the plus side, he’s got a sharp wit. He’ll utilize every scrap of knowledge accordingly to analyze a situation before acting.

Nonetheless, old habits die hard. While he doesn’t talk about his past, it’s worn on his sleeve. His formal ways of speech, mannerisms, and subtle gestures give hints on his former life. A diligent and effective worker (cough workaholic cough), he put in the hours to complete a task. In his personal life, prefers neat environments and staying hygienic. You can easily tell his mental state just by how unkempt or tidy his living space is.

At times he can’t help but feel compassion for those he connects with. Even with his job, part of him wants to care for others in what small ways he can, by skirting details to someone's benefit or simply listening. Once comfortable, he’ll seek others simply for their company. Those closest to him will learn he’s a giving man, willing to offer his time, energy or whatever else you may need. Those few he cares most for have his whole-heartedly give his trust and devotion, even with Roderich's worrying sense that they’ll may eventually leave him.

Unsurprisingly, Roderich has a habit of repressing his feelings, most often distracting himself with work or drink. Anything to keep himself from ruminating or letting his mind wander. Years of resentment and guilt strangle holding him until it becomes unbearable and his hand picks up a glass. While he’s angry at circumstance and has bones to pick with quite a few people, he really just resents himself.

History:
Born into privilege, Roderich was the son of a wealthy merchant family who had embedded themselves into Crone’s aristocracy. Though did not hold a title, their wealth granted them status among the elite. From a young age Roderich was expected to become the head of household when he came of age, and thus was groomed accordingly. Educated in a variety of subjects, Roderich excelled at his studies.

Roderich's father was a warm, patient man as opposed to his more frigid mother. During his adolescence, his father took him under his wing to teach him the mundanities and formalities of business. Roderich was ecstatic to learn from his father, whom he deeply admired. He was taught to understand the linguistics of paperwork as well as the importance of networking. He learned to socialize at high profile gatherings for the sake of networking. While his father was a naturally friendly man, Roderich it was for the sake of obligation rather than genuine interest.

As an adult, he had become quite affluent in the ballroom and during that time, he met someone. His name was Lionel, a Pyroar man a few years older who overflowed with natural charisma. A subtle presence was felt whenever he entered a room, with a soothing low voice to match. After conversing, the two began speaking more frequently, discussing a multitude of topics late into the night. Lionel had a keen perspective on business affairs, providing valued insight from a law background. Eventually they formed a business relationship along with a personal one. Roderich had taken responsibilities of running his family’s company and had long gained the trust to do so. An expansion of the Ruckye mines had been on the backburner for years. Gathering the logistics, inspectors found potential weaknesses in the tunnels’ structural integrity. With mining, there was always the chance of collapse, and unfortunately not uncommon. Still Roderich and his father were hesitant. Lionel’s family were able to legally airtight documentation on the matter, and after further debate the Ecksteins’ conceded. Thankfully the construction held and it the work went as planned

At least initially.

The damages were immense. Families were left devastated and demanding retribution. The new systems were closed off entirely. Rumors circulated even within high society’s circle. The reputations of both families tanked. Beyond overwhelmed, Roderich sought to repair the situation alongside Lionel. The feeling wasn’t mutual.Within a month both their business and personal relationships were severed, with the final nail ending with Lionel having proposed to a noble’s daughter. His mother pushed him to follow suit and find a wife as a public distraction, but his father knew better. Enroll into Her Majesty’s knights to start a new path. Get away from Ruchyke, gain a stronger character, and return home with dignity. Roderich's father would take on the responsible of the incident. After getting the necessary affairs in order, the son left.

Basic training was absolutely grueling. Every rumor about Sir Owaine’s training is true. It whipped Roderich into shape, preparing him for his new career. When not training his body, he worked on his mind. Geography, history, strategy, law; all of which he’s study late into the night to the point of falling asleep at his desk. He had a lot to learn, not just of being a tactician but about people. Working with his fellows to serve the people gave him a new perspective and better understanding of different people. The knights had a camaraderie that Ruchyke couldn’t even dream of. Several years passed and Roderich continued to thrive gaining friendships, respect and career advancement. At home, things were better, thought there were still scars from the mining collapse, the incident had become a bad memory. The struggle had paid off. Roderich was a new man and it seemed like this time everything would be alright.

If that was the case there wouldn’t be more to the story. The knights were sent out to provide aid to an unfamiliar, remote part of Crone. Sickness had struck the residents after a string of strange feral bites. It was supposed to be a simple supply delivery. They didn’t expect to be ambushed by a pack of the animals. Only one of their party members was infected, and it showed within the day. Roderich was the unlucky victim. Along the bite, the flesh seemed to almost decay, with the veins of his forearm blackening. Once back with the knights, he sought treatment. In the days it took to get back the soreness had become throbbing, and he became plagued by night terrors and distorted thought when awake. No one knew if it was a disease or a curse. It became mandatory that he take leave from his service until he recovered, as he no longer perform his job. There seemed to be no cure, and death was probable. With each day he deteriorated, becoming more and more desperate.

His search lead him to Crone’s underground. After what felt like eons, he finally found help. They examined Roderich and concluded they could rid him of it. It couldn’t be destroyed, however, it could be transferred to someone else. Scared and simply wanting it to end, Roderich agreed. The spell was placed and he was cured. His mind steadily cleared, and the strength came back to his body. It was night and day, and the night was finally over. Feeling alive once again, he returned to the knights’ service.

Three weeks later, a letter arrived urging him to come home. His father was bedridden. A sudden affliction had fallen on him causing him physical and mental instability. Roderich raced to his father’s side. By the end of the week, he was clutching his father’s blackened hand as the man passed.

Roderich cried for weeks, mourning his father. He knew it was his fault, even if indirectly, making it worse. No one knew but him, yet that only made it worse. Grief stricken and guilty, the picked up a drinking habit to try to forget. Eventually his sickness probation lead to his dishonorable discharge, ending his career. His mother pushed him to take up his father’s role now that he was dead, but after years of service and his brush with dead his former lifestyle was totally alien. Ashamed and distraught, he took his savings and left to be alone.

It took Roderich a long time to for his head to stabilize enough to seek employment again. While no longer a merchant or a knight, he had the skills of both. He did whatever freelance work he could: taxes, enforcement, financial advice, and other work. He knew he needed stable work and begin searching Goulcrest for the only place that would have him. Back at the bottom rank, he found himself sitting across the desk of the former lady-now warrior, Lidotte Steelhammer.

Extras:
- Insomniac.
- Left handed.
- Binge drinking alcoholic. A couple times a month he’ll stay in or go out to drink. Besides that he’s a mostly functional person.
- Writes extensively in spare time. It’s a hobby and a coping mechanism. Journals, poetry, opinions, musical scores, copied excerpts from books. It helps clear his mind and relax.
- Good at accounting and other bookwork, even has an old abacus laying around. Did work as clerk for sometime.
- Very well educated in general.
- Do not pet the chinchilla. He knows his fur is soft. No, bad, no. He will slap you.
- A pretty darn good ballroom dancer.
- He doesn’t want to cut his hair even though he knows long hair isn’t practical. Keeps it long in memory of his father.
- He can’t swim and hates getting soaked. The water gets trapped in his dense fur and it’s horribly uncomfortable.
- Can’t stand warm climates, he overheats in hot temperatures. Good in cooler climates.
- Avoids the knights, especially Owaine, to avoid shame recognition.
- The one time he loses restraint is when he’s fighting. If the situation becomes desperate enough, he’ll forget reason and do what he must to survive.
- Hidden in his left forearm are black, veiny, scar marks left behind by the illness. gross
- Has a cross between a mid-Atlantic and British accent. He was never able to kick his formal way of speaking.
