Description
Read all comments in all the MMD in Blender tutorials I've made to see if your question has been answered before you ask ^^Also, check out our group There are other MMD in Blender tutorials there as well as art
I created an updated version of this tutorial for Blender 2.82. You can find it here fav.me/dduuyu4
I was asked how you pose an MMD model in Blender so I made another tutorial
This tutorial focuses on how to make the bones appear, how to pose a model, and how to change a models facial expression. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'm still new to Blender though so I may not know the answer to your question but I'll try to help if I can ^^
There are different ways to move the bones around but this is the only way I know how to at the moment, but I think this way is the easiest, for me anyway lol XD
VPD pose files can now be imported into Blender. Download the latest version of the mmd tools addon by powroupi
The export pose button has a traceback error and so does the new export motion button github.com/powroupi/blender_mm…

I don't know why it's already zoomed in when you view it. It should be zoomed out first. I have no idea why it's doing this
Model used in the tutorial is
Kaito V3 (c) Biyo

blender has so many ways to do the same tasks. as a result, that can also confuse a lot of people.
Oh i remember what i was going to ask you...
Have you noticed if the >_< is not working on the face shape keys?

Yeah there are, this way seems like it's the easiest way to create poses ^^
I checked a few of the models I have and the shapes keys for >_< worked on them. I have noticed that some face shape keys don't work like the blush one. It shows up in blender render but when I go to cycles render it doesn't show up. There are other face shape keys that don't work at all and I have no idea what they are supposed to be because their names are in Japanese ^^

Here are some links to help people get started with importing, exporting, editing, converting or animating MMD models in Blender.

This has been a very helpful tutorial. Thank you for posting. I do needs some advice though as relocating or scaling the model in any way and then moving the rigidbody, cause the mesh and I think a part of the rigidbody to shoot back towards where it orginally had been located and original size. Any ideas on how to fix that? Is there a proper way to move around or rescale a model?

Nevermind, I fixed it somehow XD I tried scaling and moving in pose mode with the armature (rigidbody?) selected and it seemed to work. Maybe? Time will tell I suppose.

Yeah, it seems to work when you're in pose mode. I'm not sure if there is another way to do it or not. At least it's working XD

You're very welcome, I'm glad it was helpful to you I actually didn't know how to do either of these but I think I may have figured it out. When you go to import a model and are choosing a model, on the left side of the screen where it says Import Model file there is a bar that says scale. If you change the number there it will change the size of the model when you open it. I think this is the best way for scaling the model.
For changing the location of the model I know how you can move the model with the armature. You go into pose mode and select all the bones then you can use either the 3D manipulator tool or the G key to grab and move the model where you want it. Then de-select all the bones. You should be able to pose the model where you put it without it shooting back to where it used to be. I'm not sure how to move the rigidbody though.
I hope this helps ^^

I'm glad this has helped you I can make a lighting and rendering tutorial next but I'd like to get better at it a little more first, I'm still learning myself. Here is a tutorial on lighting that may help you out www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgAySB… ^^

I attempted to do some (one) rendering, but I ran into a number of issues. I don't suppose you might be able to help me there ?

I loaded a full motion and want to change some of the morphs at a particular frame for rendering, but when I go to image render, the morphs revert to what the motion calls for. Do you know how to fix this and how to get lighting to work? Thanks!

blenderenderer In reply to Nintendraw [2017-08-28 13:30:50 +0000 UTC]
To edit the morphs (I assume you are referring to the shape keys used to edit the facial expressions):
1) move the slider to the position you want.
2) Hold the mouse over the slider and press I. This stores the new data as part of the animation, without this it will revert to what the motion calls for.
Similar thing goes for moving bones, in the 3d view press I and select Loc Rot and Scale, which stores the new location rotating and scale of the selected bone.
As for the lighting:
1) Press Shift+A in object mode to add a lamp.
2) Position the lamps by selecting them and pressing G for grab.
Hope this helps. Best of luck in your blendevors!
