Description
Hey everyone! To kick off my new initiative with the Big Five I'm making available the breakdowns/explanations I created for the 5 mechas I designed. As a bonus you can download the full res version for your individual scrutiny!! I'll be adding 1 per week so stay tuned for moreFor those of you who missed it. I've made prints available for all 5 of the Big 5 illustrations plus the most recent Rhino painting I did. They are for sale through Deviantart which has lots of options for purchasing so please take a look.
ALL PROFITS MADE FROM SALES OF ANYTHING RELATED TO BIG FIVE WILL BE DONATED THE INTERNATIONAL ANTI POACHING FOUNDATION (IAPF.)
The IAPF operates in South Africa/Zimbabwe in Kruger National Park. Their mission is to protect the animals of the park through anti-poaching patrols, aerial drone surveillance, animal tagging/relocation, and community education/outreach. Their efforts inspired me to design the Big Five series. I believe in their cause and as a token of thanks for providing an invaluable service to the planet I've dedicated all profits made through print sales to them. They need the cash more than I do.
I repeat again:
ALL PROFITS WILL BE DONATED TO THE IAPF
You win both ways. You buy some awesome art, and you support an even more awesome cause.
Thanks!!!!!!!
Rob

Coolest thing I have ever seen!! I need this is vector format. I want it to be my Robotics team mascot!

Very cool. Will you do other animal mech breakdowns?

Carbides are a binary compound of Carbon and another element, commonly Iron. The carbide formations are what turn Iron into steel and give it its hardenability and strength. Otherwise you just have Carbon, while carbides are indeed quite hard, they are also very brittle. A Tungsten carbide scribe used in a workshop can cut glass but if dropped onto another hard object will shatter. I get where you were going with that, just thought this might help your process.

Wow, I can actually see it move really smoothly ... you know, like a sneaky not so rusty mega awesome mecha leopard
Your art is amazing by the way ^__^

Have you ever considered working for Boston Dynamics at all? I'd love to see them take BigDog and make a Mecha Leopard based off of your design! :3

I really wish he could consider Kashmir Robotics more than Boston Dynamics, because there's an event that need his design even more: www.popsci.com/article/technolβ¦

Oh wow, I haven't seen this at all! Signal boost this everywhere!
I hope that poaching becomes more of a recognised issue within the media soon, I mean, we don't even HEAR about poachers using cyanide to kill HUNDREDS of elephants in Africa, at once, and therefore killing anything that comes into contact with their corpses, AND anything that feeds at the watering hole!

I am actually more concerning that robotics will get 'poached' too (for valuable parts and recorded data), however comparing to the endangered species it's still worthy investment to stop poachers. About media concern, check AJE on YouTube and you will see how frequently they bought these to attention.

Lovely, if a little bit too common and easily expected from the design of such drone. I rather think otherwise however, would you give more description for some features that's new and innovative, while the common feature giving the least highlighting?

Great attention to detail! Honestly! As a technical person, seeing this makes me very curious about your drawing and how it works. :0
Here, I make some critiques.
For the eye cover part, I think heat and thermal vision are the same (in this context). Though it's common and makes the sentence read smoother, "periods of time" is a redundant phrase.
Also, it looks like there's a hole in it's front right paw, though I'm sure that can be justified technically.
Besides that, I'm happy.

The block and hole design are heavily based on Elysium, lots of artists becomes imitators for the design of this movie.

I do believe that the animals you draw are the result of the U.S. military developing a sympathetic relationship to endangered species, and if this was to happen in real life, the poachers are the endangered species. Nyah!

More like the humanity itself becomes endangered specie. Since when the drone is designed to make peace with human beings?

Dude, this is the best-No, most realistic animal robot design i seen in a loooong time. I swear if you added more, someone could probably make this dream come true. It's awesome, but lets hope electronic animals don't become the replacements of the real ones in the ner future.. Keep at it. ;D

Dystatic-Studio In reply to Zamroyz [2013-10-24 02:57:45 +0000 UTC]
This one is for anti-poaching purpose, not a replacement from real organic creatures.

Oh, i know that, i meant as a joke. But if the poaching and deforestion goes on, well.. Maybe this will be a more realistic option. :l
