Description I love making clothing and costumes. This collection of photos is just a few of the ones I made in early college. I will go over them top right to bottom left.

The largest picture is from the multicultural festival at UT Arlington. The Japanese students club had made a lovely little house with a rock garden and an even stone path. I had made this furisode kimono out of satin like material. I really love making these they are so elegant. I know I was not wearing it quite correctly, but the JSA were kind. When I had my friend take this picture in front of their house, the people around us would not let me leave the enclosure until they got pictures too.

This is my friend Erin in the custom furisode I made for her. This lovely kimono has a pattern of Green waves on a darker blue plain with silvery blue dragons. The obi and cuffing is of a complementary pale blue. This one I had to send to her in Missouri, so I was not there to help her dress in it. As with many of the pictures I have on this site, there is no more detailed picture.

This neat little grey suit was a part of my graduation project for my costume design class. I thought it was more about sewing, but it focused on design. The fabric is a grey field with dark sky blue and closes with a set of velcro fixtures.

I am very proud of this dress because my grandmother and I made this together for my high school Prom. This was the first of my formal designs to be created. The dress itself came from the mixed inspiration of Greece and Frieda Kahlo's Self Portrait "Between the Curtains". I do not recall what fabric this gown is made from, but I recall that the sleeves were chiffon. The silver "broaches" just below the sleeves are cleverly placed strips of sequined ribbons. I was not crowned to the Prom court that night, but this gown has seen me the Princess on many a night.

The next picture is of my very first kimono. I was wearing it to college for halloween. This time I put on the full geisha make-up. My guitar teacher introduced me to the gardener who was Japanese. The gentleman spoke japanese to me and seemed surprised when I told him I was American.

The last costume is a toga. What have I to be proud of about something as simple as a toga? Well, this one is held together by 3 safety pins and a bit of rope. I had all of 30 minutes to get dressed for a last minute toga party in college. Simple as this costume looks, I won the costume contest.
