This is my friend Juan with the space shuttle bank I was commissioned to make for him. Juan was an aerospace engineering major that dreamed of working with NASA. He was the one that challenged me to make this plastic canvas creation after seeing the flower bank I made for our friend Rathna. Like the Flower, this bank have to have each part stitched separately. The shuttle had more places to be considered for embroidery. I stitched in Juan's initials where the name and origin of the craft would have gone. Again you may notice that the shuttle can be set on its end. The coin release hatch is in that end, with two "buttons" on the underside to keep it closed and secured. He was a lot happier to see this bank than he looks in this picture. Last I heard he hung it from the ceiling in his office and added a lego space man suspended from a wire.
