Description
In an effort to cut the rising prison costs, a new method of serving your time was devised, Cellblock 58 was selected as the first experiment. The women were dutifully prepared, artistic hair styles, locked in poses... and to their horror dipped into the transmutation chamber to return as pretty statues... nearly indestructible... but fully aware ... rented out or sold for the duration of their terms... it was a win win for the prison system...I forgot I had this done, it was an experiment with lighting effects, hence the glowing transmutation pool

The prison industry would love this! No need to feed, clothe and guard the statues, no riots or escapes. The pretty ones rented out to generate extra cash. The rest of the statues stacked in unheated locked warehouses with a few guards inside the fence.
Those sentenced to life imprisonment could be sold at auction instead of rented. Less attractive lifers could be made to stand at attention, turned into steel statues and shipped to construction sites. Then arc welded to skyscraper steel frameworks or steel bridge supports as steel girder replacements.
