Description
Meet Korbin the Timber Fox. His back stands 6” high, ears are 9”, and he is 12” long including the tail. Korbin is a wire sculpted super soft poseable artdoll; his head/neck and tail move. Hand sculpted, sewn and painted by me. He is mostly all one piece of gray faux fur except a litttle off white under his chin and charcoal gray dippedLegs. His neck has a plastic armature and his body and legs are shaped with steel wire. I really like how he came out. He is quite the fluff buns. Unlike the typical sneaky fox, Korbin is quite a charming, friendly and trustworthy confidant.

I absolutely love him!! The look of mischief in his eyes melts my heart. He has a lot of personality. He is the perfect woodland friend. He also has that look of intelligence and confidence that makes him alive and unique.
You did an outstandig job with the length and texture of his fur. Having it longer around the neck and along the back is an excellent choice. His paws are sooo cute too! The body shape with the tapering waist came out perfect.
Congratulations. He is one of a kind.

I want to be able to use multiple kinds of fur on the same animal so maybe that’ll be my next attempt to figure out. My beast doll is honestly the only doll I’ve done that with so far. I just am afraid I wont be able to shape the fur as nice if there are multiple fabrics going on. As in it could look choppy . We’ll see.

You’re very welcome! It does have a certain needle felted look now that you mention it, around the lower part of the legs. I think it works very well to give it that velvety look that foxes have in parts of their body.
Maybe you can insert the different types of fur with a needle, once the body has been stitched, and before you trim it? I’m just guessing, since I’m not too familiar with the processes to create this type of art.
With any method that you choose, I’m sure it will come out awesome, just as the Beast Doll.

Yah I think you can only needle felt onto a surface that already has wool on it. But I don’t know anything about needle felting honestly. I totally wish I could just needle poke cool patterns over the whole body, it would definitely look more interesting. Would be easier to make stripes and spots without using globs of paint.

Yep, I agree. I’m wondering if you could needle poke with one of the hair rooting needles and gadgets that are used for doll hair?
Felting is not as complicated. You basically poke everything into place. It just might work!

That would be cool but I think the fur would just pull out maybe. At some point I wanna try needle felting something.

I hadn’t thought about that, you’re absolutely right. Needle felting is fun! I recommend it, and I hope you enjoy it. I have a very cool book that tells you how to felt with cat hair, and well, having 2 feline children, I have a surplus of it, he, he, he.
