Description This was actually meant to be submitted on Valentine's Day, but . . . well, I won't make excuses. It's here now, and that's what matters! The official MonsterHigh  group was running a New Year's/Valentine's Day drawing challenge to try and restart the group after a couple years of going quiet, so, naturally, I decided to give it a try and maybe help them get things running again. Despite the series ending (and then getting rebooted, only to get cancelled again), there is still a fanbase out there that is dedicated to keeping the series alive, and I want to do my part!

As a part of the Monster High fanbase, I have my own personal opinions on various pairings and ships. While I agree for the most part on the majority of the canon pairings, I have a couple OTPs that I like to toy around with, especially when it comes to characters that haven't had much luck or interest in the love scene. In this particular instance, my top OTP is Venus McFlytrap with Jane Boolittle, a pairing that I like to refer to as 'flora and fauna'. As for why I ship them:

Jane lists Venus as a friend on the official Monster High website, likely due to their strong bond with nature. While Venus obviously cares more for plants and Jane prefers to look after animals, both are important pieces of the natural world that they so deeply care about. Plus, Jane is friends with and can understand Venus' pet carnivorous plant, Chewlian. Bonus!

I love the whole 'opposites attract' concept, and this works surprisingly well with the ghoul's personalities. Venus is very loud, stubborn, and very vocal about her opinions and goals, not to mention very confident in herself. Jane on the other hand is the exact opposite - quiet, submissive, and extremely shy, she finds talking to animals a lot easier than socializing with her fellow students, to the point where their pets were the ones to coach her on how to talk with them. I like to think that Venus would be the one to help Jane out of her shell and give her someone to hide behind or look to for guidance when she's overwhelmed.

I like to think that Venus would be an absolute horndog in this pairing. She would always be the one to openly flirt with Jane and bring up embarrassing points or give her displays of affection when hanging out with their friends or out in public. She likes to see Jane blush and get all anxious because she thinks it's so cute. Plus, it makes any romantic gestures that Jane tries to make all the more adorable and important to them both, since it likely took Jane an immense amount of time to work up the courage in the first place.

That about wraps it up! I'm thinking of eventually taking a break from my usual Ben 10 content and working on some more Monster High fanart; maybe then I can finally get the inspiration I need to get back to my stories

For any Monster High fans out there, what's your OTP? Are there any ships that you disagree with or headcanons that you have? Let me know in the comments below! Let's have a discussion!

Believe it or not, I haven't abandoned my stories, I've just been very occupied with real life shenanigans for the past few years, what with entering college and getting a job that takes up a decent chunk of my energy and time.

That, and I've more or less made a personal vow to not productively work on my stories until I've finished the collaborations I've made with other authors. A few years back, when WAM was still being written, I was invited by another author by the name of Blazorna Ibara to do a crossover with his story (which was a Ben 10 x Queen's Blade work), something he was also planning to do with two other authors. In hindsight, I probably should've rejected the offer, but I was excited at the prospect of even being remotely famous/noticed (that's youth for you). Regardless, we talked things over and worked out a plot, but I was adamant and confident that I could write the entire thing myself - I'm a perfectionist by nature, unfortunately, and get very triggered if things that I'm involved with are not to my personal specifications or satisfaction. That, and I was in the middle of working on my one-shot series and starting OUAT, which I found comparatively more interesting due to my complete creative control. So, I've pretty much been pushing this poor guy to the wayside for the better of five or six years now, and that's not counting the other projects that I've gotten myself into because I can't bring myself to say "no" after being flattered with a few kind words.

With that all being said, I am making an effort this year to really push for the completion of that collaboration; I can't give a deadline because the moment I do that, I won't meet it for one reason or another. What I can promise is that when I do finish work on it, I'll release a trailer chapter for the 'revival' of OUAT to not only let everyone know that I'm still alive, but to hopefully keep them sated until I can complete the next chapter (which will likely be shorter than previous chapters and serve as a transition chapter from one arc of the story to the other).

Thank you for the kind words! It means a lot!

You're welcome CM. Although since you must have some time to add pics like this one, you mind fulfilling one request for me on DA? I would love to see your attempt on a Sotoraggian form for Ben. When I first saw SevenSeven & his cool cannon arm I was completely obsessed with how Ben would turn out as the bounty hunter's species.

Technically, yes and no. She (and by extension, any of the three ghouls) can be removed as desired and I just wanted to draw something Venus x Jane.

If I'm being honest, I kind of regret making that pairing because it doesn't seem 100% solid or believable, but it's too late to turn back and write it out now. I have to sleep in the bed that I made, so I make do with what I can. I honestly ship Venus x Jane much harder than the three of them, since I think it has much better chemistry. Plus, the ship name wouldn't have worked as well.

Furthermore, a lot of my Monster High work is influenced by Ben 10 or my story and I wanted to make something that was pure Monster High or, at the very least, could be perceived by it by those who haven't read my story.

Well it’s not really a surprise considering how likable Raven is and her backstory...one can’t help but want to give her love lol

And feel the chemistry between Raven and Cerise make this paring quite perfect (followed in my book by Raven x Darling and Raven x Maddie)

CreaturemasterProds In reply to DarknessRissing [2020-02-26 03:29:37 +0000 UTC]

True, very true, indeed.

Personally, I'm not sure about the exact chemistry between Raven and Darling (though I wouldn't condemn it; I'd just need a little convincing), I have to agree with Raven x Maddie. The two of them have known each other since they were little and Maddie has always had Raven's back, no matter what destiny nonsense has stood in her way. It makes sense that they could potentially develop a romantic relationship.

Personally though, my top Raven pairing is with Apple, for a variety of reasons. As shown here, I love the opposite attract relationships, because while it means the characters have their respective differences, they've had to develop a lot as characters in order to get to a point where they no longer despise one another/finally see eye-to-eye. I like to think that Apple was simply sheltered her whole life and had the whole Destiny thing drilled into her head that she has very little idea about how the outside world really works - same-sex relationships would be almost unheard of to her, sex in general would be a no-zone, and the concept of fighting for your own dreams and beliefs instead of sacrificing yourself for what is perceived to be the greater good would basically be seen as heresy. I like to think that if Apple had been parented better, then she wouldn't so viciously defend Destiny or write off Raven's desire to rebel as a phase against the inevitable.

that was quite recent (during the events of Dragon games...some scenes of then together however seems to be a connection there)...and yeah quite surprise Raven x Maddie (Raddie? Maden?)  is not a popular paring considering the points you mention (and how Raven was the only one trying to make the wonderlandians feel welcome and not judge them cause their language)

uff honestly i dont understand (or like ) that paring. i get the whole "opposite attracts" and you rise some good points about Apple`s growing...HOWEVER...Apple its too obsessed with the whole "destiny stuff", she mess with Raven`s life and choices even when not asked (specially when no one ask her) she keep trying to force Raven into a path she have said thousand of times she dont want, and instead of helping her to not be feared she actually gets happy when Raven seems to do something evil that make people judge and run away from her, uggg and i HATE how she guilt trip Raven every time she seems to reach her limit with the whole "you must follow destiny" speech....AND DONT MAKE ME START ON THE WHOLE "DRAGON GAME INCIDENT"

uff overall i dont like Apple as a character or as paring for Raven......those that like it, its ok...i just dont understand why its so famous and i just see to many bad points that i cant simply overlook

CreaturemasterProds In reply to DarknessRissing [2020-02-27 11:26:27 +0000 UTC]

When it comes to ships, most people either go with "Person A x Person B" or try to come up with a clever name, like I did here. In the case of Raven x Maddie, it might be because it's a predictable ship whose chemistry doesn't vary too differently from their friendship - Maddie already supports Raven in everything she does unconditionally and Raven is always there for Maddie (though I don't know what you're talking about when you say that she was the only one to welcome the Wonderlandians. The other students treat them just fine, if not cock a few eyebrows at some of their more stranger quirks, such as talking to the Narrators that they can't hear).

One reason the pairing is so popular is because it features what are arguably the two main characters of Ever After High. Sure, other characters have their own arcs and stories to tell, but the conflict between Apple wanting to follow her destiny and Raven wanting to write her own happily ever after are front and center stage.

Another reason is that they're the heads of the two factions in the Destiny Conflict, further putting them in the spotlight, which serves to add further tension and possibilities that the ship might face during its voyage - imagine, if you will, that Apple finally sees Raven's side of things and decides that she wants to write her own story, too. For some characters, that could mean that they've finally won the right to live their happily ever after. For others, it would be seen as a loss and jeopardizing everything they had ever known. Some would praise them and embrace the change, while others would plot and try to bring things back to the way they were. The same thing could said if the alternative happened.

The potential plot points and drama that are created with this ship is practically endless than if it were two Rebel characters or two Royal characters falling in love (that is to say, I haven't found too many Royal x Rebel ships out there), hence why it's one of the most popular ships in the EAH fandom.

As for Apple as a character, you must understand that for a character to be well developed, they must have flaws in order to be believable. As I'm sure you know, characters that don't do this and are practically perfect in every way are known as Mary/Gary Sues - they're always nice, have bad things happen to them through no fault of their own, good things always happen to them, and everyone likes them. Apple, as a character, is someone who is nice to others and has a lot of good things happen to her because she is the Daughter of Snow White and was raised to be as such. What prevents her from being a boring Mary Sue however, is that this upbringing has clearly caused her to fear drastic changes in her life and that she, as an individual, doesn't matter in the whole scheme of things.

It can be safely assumed that there have been hundreds, if not thousands of other Snow Whites before her and her mother, and each one bit the poisoned apple and lived happily ever after. If Raven hadn't started the Destiny Conflict, it could be safely assumed that there would hundreds of thousands of other Snow Whites after Apple. The fairy tale parents were taught, as far back as the Storybook of Legends existed, that their lives didn't matter in the grand scheme of things and they in turn taught this to their own children and so on and so forth; it's a vicious cycle that never seemed like it would end. It's sadly never been canonically established why the Storybook of Legends was created, but it's been implied that by repeating the fairy tales, the world of Ever After gets to continue to exist - that being said, it's also been implied that no-one really knows what would happen if they didn't.

It basically shares a lot of themes that can be found in the short-story "The Lottery". If you haven't heard of it, it involves a village holding an annual lottery where someone is drawn at random to be stoned to death in order to ensure a successful harvest, something they have been doing for decades by the point of the story. It should also be mentioned that other villages also follow the tradition, but have begun to stop holding in recent years, while the village at the center of the story continues to blindly practice it.

I'm getting off track here. Character-wise, I think Apple is well-balanced in traits that make people (both characters and fans) like her and dislike her, but there is one striking flaw that I'm pretty sure you're aware of that makes it difficult to like her sometimes: she never learns her lesson. As you are no doubt aware, Apple continuously tries to pull Raven back over to the Royal side as the series has progressed, even though she has firmly expressed that she wants Raven to do it out of her own choosing rather than forcing her like the Headmaster tries to and even got to a point where she destroyed the Storybook of Legends - the very symbol of the Royal faction and the Destiny conflict - because its potential was too dangerous. For a character like Apple, someone who practically eats, sleeps, and breathes destiny, that is huge.

But then the writers of the show made Dragon Games and all that development went out the window. While I have still not seen Dragon Games in order to avoid progressing my story too quickly, I do know that Apple unleashed the Evil Queen, someone who is considered to essentially be the equivalent of Adolf Hitler in EAH (on a reputation level, anyway), and basically got off scott-free for doing so. Again, I haven't seen the special, but I firmly believe this to be the fault of the writers and not of Apple as a character. That being said however, it could be said that Evil Queen emphasized Apple's fears of what would happen if the Rebel side won, of all the uncertainty there was in forging new paths and opening new doors - it could even be said that the Evil Queen emphasized Apple's fear of losing Raven herself (I'm going to assume on a friendship level. You have to remember that, even though they're on separate factions, Apple and Raven have always been nice to one another).

To circle back to the start of this speech, a third and final option could be to, in fact, fix all the points that you've made about Apple. Fans see the potential that Apple has when she has her most glaring flaws - whether that be in her personality and in her actions or how she was raised - and want to fix that by creating pieces that show her finally realizing that the cycle of Destiny can't keep going on as it has and that she and her friends are more than mere puppets. Like I said however, the problem is that this is something that's very difficult for people to realize, break, and overcome. I mean, just look at BoJack Horseman - five seasons (and who knows how many if the show hadn't been cancelled so abruptly) under its belt and some could still say he's still an asshole. Sure, he has come a dramatically long way since we first met him, but he still has his faults; he isn't perfect and he still hasn't fully recovered from the traumatic roller coaster that is his life. Change isn't something that a lot of people can do or get over quickly, especially when they've been so stubborn for so long; it takes time.

I'm really starting to ramble now, but I hope at least making some good points about Apple as a character and how that, while she obviously has her faults, she isn't completely deserving of all the hate you give her.

well this is certainly the biggest answer i thought i could get lol

honestly speaking there are little moments i feel the "creators" are a fault for transforming characters of "ruining them", i prefer judge Apple as a character

Apple do have shown that she has grow to "respect destiny" however i feel some of my hate to her its the fact that never stopped for a moment to see why raven was so against it (did she know she will end up as a bum on the streets?...or how about locked on a mirror (im assuming until she gave birth to the next "evil queen)?..all the fear and hate Raven gets, she didnt try to ease some of it?...instead she go all "you are selfish" when Raven try to defend herself and her point of view

actually Snow white also had to be blame for the "dragon game incident" (she let the queen out when she reveal herself only to use some plan to make Apple look like a hero...all cause some old school rivalry)..but yeah the queen went "will help you turn Raven evil", Apple agree and Raven really lost her patience with Apple when she found out.

and yeah i get it..potential and all, she can learn if she try, but in "canon" i simply cant see it (or at least not during the events of the series)...i dont have anything against you liking her...or you liking the paring but Apple will never be a favorite of mine...feel she crossed the line to many times to forgive her (plus honestly think the Rapple paring its to overuse to this point...a bit of variety on ships would be nice  )

Hmm, I suppose judging Apple as a character is appropriate, but one shouldn't forget that in the end, the creators have the final say in what their characters do. While I think it can be safely said that all creators know how to properly use their characters as they change and develop, there are other cases where this isn't so true (off the top of my head, the best example I can think of is the flanderization of shows/characters that have gone on for a very long time, such as The Simpsons and Spongebob Squarepants).

You do make a good point about Apple never trying to see Raven's (literal) point of view on the matter. That being said, I would like to argue two things:

1. Apple has, on more than one occasion, tried to ease the fear and hate that Raven has faced. As I've mentioned before, the two of them have remained on friendly terms despite their conflicting views and positions - they haven't tried any underhanded tactics to win or anything like that; as I've also mentioned, Apple doesn't approve when the Headmaster tries to trick Raven into signing the Storybook of Legends in order to avoid bringing on what she thought was basically the apocalypse in the Throncoming special.

2. It hasn't been stated whether or not, during Destiny Day, everyone was able to see what Raven saw when she put her key in the lock. For all we know, the visions that we saw were something that only Raven could see. Furthermore, it has been stated that the Evil Queen - Raven's mother - is imprisoned in a magic mirror because she stepped over the line and tried to take over all fairy tales, implying that she is the only individual in her family line to be imprisoned. Taking all of this into account, and the fact that Raven has seemingly never shared what she saw in the mirror on Destiny Day (again, assuming that only she could see it), Raven refusing to follow her destiny and therefore deny Apple her own might come across as a selfish choice.

I know this might all be circumstantial, but when you do the math, it really doesn't add up. As I previously mentioned, Apple and Raven are on good terms and Apple wants Raven to willingly sign the book instead of being tricked or forced into doing so. When Raven does sign the book in Way too Wonderland, Apple doesn't gloat or rub it in her face. She expresses sympathy to the fact that Raven had to do the one thing she didn't want to in order to save them and ended up destroying the Storybook of Legends. And all throughout this, Apple has attempted to convince Raven into signing the book.

This doesn't sound like Apple actually knows what will happen to Raven if she follows her destiny. For all we know, from Apple's perspective, Raven signs the book, poisons her, maybe faces some small punishment afterward, and goes on with the rest of her life. She doesn't know that if Raven follows her destiny, she's doomed to be chased by an angry mob, to be picking from trashes and back alleys for her meals while on the run, and inevitably be imprisoned in a mirror for the rest of her life.

Seeing as how I haven't seen Dragon Games yet (and will continue to do so until I believe it's time to write it), I can't really comment on Snow White being involved. I knew that, compared to Apple, she wasn't the perfect princess she's made out to be and only really cared about her reputation, image, and status, but I didn't know she was actively involved in trying to turn Raven evil (which, given the aftermath, clearly backfired).

You do make a point about Rapple being overdone to death, though. Admittedly, it's hard because of how popular it is, but you make a point. In regards to everything else you said . . . how do you feel about spoilers? The reason I ask this is because I've already planned what will become of Apple after Dragon Games and have run it by a couple of trusted colleagues, but I'd like to run by you, someone who really knows what is wrong with Apple and doesn't like her because of it. I want to run what I have by you and see if, in your opinion, it is a satisfying enough punishment for basically releasing a super villain onto the world without imprisoning Apple for life/brutally beating her/killing her/removing her from the story entirely/any over the top punishment (once everything is said and done, she is meant to return and be part of the harem once more).

If you are alright with this, I'll send a note with the details (I've learned that some of my readers have been listening in on some conversations I have with my aforementioned trusted colleagues whenever we bounce around ideas and weigh in on their opinion in the reviews. I want what I want to run by you to be completely secret so that they'll never see it coming when it happens, you dig?).

ok yeah but those shows do really are fault of the creators for trying to extend them even when ideas began to dry

1.-yeah she doesnt approve of the headmaster plan...and yeah Apple havent try anything "dirty" to "win" over Raven (until DG)..but she its quite direct on what she wants...buy evil clothes and stuff for Raven even when she didnt ask for it (in the book apparenly she throw away any cloth that didnt look evil enough for her...although then im not surprise they cut that from the cartoon), get angry cuase she is lookign for a "replacement" for the evil queen, or get angry/sad cause Raven dont try to poison her....umm but yeah Apple have been quite civil (or what you can said civil) with only one minor moment after Raven refused..but i will mark that as "anger of the moment"

2.- will agree there...i also dont think other except Raven saw "the future" (or i will quite disturbed by the general acceptation of those images)...but then i wonder what Apple think happened to old evil queens? (we know Raven´s mom was imprission cause she really went off-scrip and try to take over...but what about the ones before her)

believe me..your Snow white its quite the opposite of canon snow white (she have my record of the quickest i hated a new character..a full 10 seconds) if anything more that a princess/queen she acts like a buisness woman that see her any action like a stock number (literally)..and her plan was actually that "make raven evil-make snow white or apple white looks like hero-boost Apple´s popularity-look good while doing it"..thinking about it what happen to her during that event makes quite sense now (lol now if my turn to ask if you want that spoiler)

well im always happy to help on a story i like (im a Beta reader in some actually) so yeah i dig will be fun to see whats on your mind

Actually, I think Spongebob could be exempt since Hillenberg wanted to end the series after the first movie and, in fact, stepped down as the producer for many years before his return. But yeah, The Simpsons is definitely at fault here.

Yeah, I haven't read any of the books (EAH or MH), so I wouldn't know. Given how much has changed between the books and the actual series however, it could be said that the animated series is a different continuity. That being said, Apple did go out of her way to buy Raven everything possible from 'Evil R Us', but I attribute that to being first introductions of the characters, since it happened at the beginning of the series. Plus, Raven has stated that she does like the style (or at the very least, colors); she just wished that people wouldn't think she's evil just because she wore it.

Funnily enough, I do actually plan to address this issue in the next chapter (whenever that happens. I swear I am trying). Let's just say that whether Apple knew it/intended to or not, there are some outfits worth keeping, if only for the reaction they get from a certain Riding hood

As for what happened to the other Evil Queens, I think given how the fairy tale villains like the Dark Fairy, the Big Bad Wolf, and the Candy Witch aren't being kept imprisoned for cursing a princess to sleep for a hundred years, threatening to devour a little girl/devouring their grandmother (or kidnapping her, depending on what version of the story they're running; some versions simply have the Wolf lock her in a closet rather than eat her), or trying to eat children it's safe to say that the villains suffer no actual consequences since what they're doing is a re-enactment. They might possibly be punished for a short period of time, but they overall seem to have nothing bad happen to them. Thus far, I think only Raven's mom is the only Evil Queen (and perhaps the only villain) to suffer any long term punishment for her actions (or any punishment in general) because she tried to go off-script.

Again, there isn't much to go on here, but I sincerely doubt Apple would continue to force Raven to go through with Destiny if she knew that Raven would being punished for doing so (regardless of what her mother did).

Yeah, the reason for that is Dragon Games came out after I had posted that chapter, so it completely caught me off guard when we were shown just how nasty Snow White really is (then again, it certainly explains some of why Apple is the way she is) and gave me a massive headache is trying to work everything out with her. But I digress. I'd rather not have spoilers for the special so that I can avoid moving my story along too quickly (which is what happened with Way too Wonderland; it got requested so much that I watched the special and pushed it ahead when I really felt like I shouldn't have. Then again, it might've been for the best. I don't know. We'll have to see in the long run).

Sent you the note! Thanks again!

on that spongebob do have something over the simpsons...he hasnt pass a "future" episode (i mean seriusly how many "future" episodes we had?...even one where we saw Bart on his death bed)

yeah somethings from the book didnt reach the series (like the pets, or the fact Apple wears glases...or what the evil queen did to start her conquest of the realms)

on that cant said much..i do agree the color and style favored Raven (she is quite beautiful), shmae Apple (and the majority of the school) only seems to see evil (thoguht i think she didnt like her shoes in the books but not sure...honestly i cant help but wonder how anyone could wear those)

hahaha i think i will like to see what Cerise reation will be at the outfits lol (and dont worry dont rush a good work)

umm thats a good point...i always wonder how the system really works considering what the fairytale villains do (and not taking in consideration the original versions of those stories considering a good chunk of villains end up death...and execute by the princesses in at least two tales)...although if considering the different versions of the stories well not in all the villains end up death or in prison....so thats that

well i wont spoil anything so dont worry..but yeah snow white its different..but think yours is more likeble (althoguh yeah canon one do explain a lot about Apple´s behavior...maybe for when you reach that moment in the story you could play more on Apple´s fears instead of the social/family pressure)

no problem my friend

I mean, they technically did do a future episode when Squidward had that time machine, but I see your point.

While it's true many things from the books didn't make it into the series, at least one of the pets made it: Nevermore, Raven's pet dragon. From what I remember, she had the ability to change sizes for convenience sake, at least in the book series. Not sure if it make it into the show, since she only appeared in Dragon Games and I, of course, haven't seen it yet. It also might've been an off-handed comment I made, but I have made an attempt to feature a few details from the book series in my stories, such as Apple's need for glasses, even if I haven't actively shown that (which I kinda really want to, now that I think about it. Might also mention the issues she got for having blonde hair).

Can't really comment much on this one since I haven't read the book series and probably never will.

Thought you might enjoy that bit. Raven's starting to catch on

At the very least, I've established that the original versions of the fairy tales did exist back when the Storybook of Legends was first created before at one the Brothers Grimm (or someone in their family line) decided to alter the tales a little so they would have less trouble replacing the villains when it came time for the next generation of fairy tales to fulfill their destinies. I think for the official canon however, they've opted to go for the less fatal fairy tale endings (mostly because it's target audience is, admittedly, of a younger age). Since that's likely the case, I think it can thus far be safely said that Raven's mother is the only fairy tale villain who has ever been imprisoned or, at the very least, for a long time.

I'm obviously going to have to watch the special when I get around to that point, but it's most likely going to be different for a couple of reasons, one of which is that Snow White is, in fact, a dramatically different person than her canon counterpart. Furthermore, Apple didn't destroy the Storybook of Legends like she did in Way too Wonderland (and yes, I have a reason for this).

Thanks!

TheBrodRoad [2020-02-19 16:49:50 +0000 UTC]

Now THIS was a great surprise for me to see this morning. Simply put, I love this. I love this SO MUCH! Not only is it nicely drawn, it's quite romantic and I can definitely see those two being in such an embrace, right down to Jane blushing and everything. Spectacular job, my friend. Wait, I'll do one better and give this the Penny Seal Of Approval: It's SENSATIONAL! Lol.

As for your MH discussion idea, the ships and headcanons I have are mainly inspired by your stories, so they'd most likely involve Ben or, at least, the idea that the MH Ghouls have a side-gig of being heroes or something. Hmm... However, thanks to some risque fanfiction I've read, I do like the idea of Horndog Venus getting with Jackson. The geeky everyman trying to "tame a wild garden", eh? Hmm... I kinda think that Robecca and Frankie could possibly work. They could bond over the fact that they're both artificial beings and part of some of their dates would be performing maintenance on each other's bodies, with it somehow feeling like getting/giving weird massages or something like that.

Oh, I just thought of a kinky headcanon for Jane/Venus! Or, at least, your interpretation of it with Jane being a shapeshifter... Imagine Venus getting a Furry fetish as their relationship goes on and trying to see if Jane can change only specific parts of her so that she looks like an anthropomorphic person. Example: If Venus is feeling like "doggy style", Jane tries to change her ears to dog ones, her mouth/nose to be a dog snout, and grows a tail. Perhaps a layer of fur. Just a thought. Of course my mind would go for the gutter again...

I do have a crossover headcanon, though. What if Robecca met Penny?

CreaturemasterProds In reply to TheBrodRoad [2020-02-20 06:25:42 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, man! I'll be honest, I wasn't entirely sure if I would be able to successfully pull this off as well as I did, since I always have so much trouble figuring out shadows and highlights - even when I know where the light source is coming, I don't know if a certain part of a person or a landscape or whatever have you has a shadow or not. What's frustrating is that no class I've taken or tutorial that I've seen (thus far) teaches this or gives a concrete answer. And maybe there isn't one. Maybe it's just up to the artist's interpretation, to one degree or another. And even then, there are still some bits and bobs I'd like to add to the piece, now that I have a chance to sit back and look at it after it's completion. Nothing major, of course, just maybe some small patterns in the background or something.

And yay, the Penny Seal of Approval!

Yeah, I kinda get what you mean about that. For instance, whenever I get asked how I would interpret Ben 10 aliens whose names have been revealed, but have never physically appeared - like Snakepit, Sandbox, or Shellhead, for instance - I really can't think of anything besides what kjmarch  has made, since I saw his interpretations before really getting into the series. Take Sandbox for instance - you look at his interpretation, which is an amorphous pile of sand, and you really can't think of anything else. Someone else entirely had to come up with another concept entirely and ask me to draw it.

But as for Venus x Jackson, I understand what you mean. I'm not sure if I've read the same stories as you, but it's something that I've seen pop up in MH lemon stories, though it should be noted that the ones I've read usually involve Jackson unwittingly find a way to sexually arouse and lure Venus to him rather than romantic, consensual sex, you know?

I could see it working in a non-sexual setting in a similar fashion to Flora and Fauna, however. Venus would probably still be the loud and confident one of the two while Jackson would end up being the awkward, quiet nerd who constantly gets dragged into her shenanigans and always ends up supporting her ridiculous, environmental endeavors because she's the only that understands gets excited about the scientific junk that he knows like the back of his hand. And of course, with Jackson, it's always a two-package deal since you've got Holt lurking in the background. Venus, of course, being an eco-punk, probably would have an interest in the type of music that Holt plays, so the bases are all covered!

As for a ship name . . . hmm, 'Environmental Science'? 'Biology'? 'Organic Beats'? Something that combines Venus environmental outlook with Jackson's scientific genius or Holt's musical capability.

In regards to Robecca and Frankie, I could see that happening, too. Given Frankie's track record with boys, it's not hard to imagine that after taking a step back to re-evaluate her love life, she might consider giving ghouls a try and seeing if that works out better. Plus, both Frankie's parents and Robecca's father are old friends (having been alive around the same time before the latter's disappearance), so that sets up a little ground work for the two of them (not to mention parental approval). I really like the idea of the two of them doing maintenance on each other during some of their dates - imagine if you will, the two of them going to Frankie's during a rainstorm and redoing the stitches on her legs while tightening Robecca's rivets and drinking hot chocolate and tea by the fire.

Actually . . . that's not a bad idea. I might have to put that one down . . .

Hmm, that could work, but I think it would require a lot more practice. I'm not exactly sure if there's any rules when it comes to shape-shifting, per say, but I like to imagine that in cases like Jane, animals are the simplest and easiest transformations to pull off. The next step would be hybridizations of those animals - like combining a crocodile with a lion - or creatures that are otherwise consider mythical in nature, but would nonetheless be considered animals. After that, it would be sentient species, such as humans or other monster species - somewhere along the line, or maybe after, would be the ability to transform a single part of oneself as needed, and perhaps even gender-swapping. So, at some point, Jane might be able to pull that off (or just transform into a full werebeast), but it would take a lot of practice, time, and skill to achieve.

Robecca and Penny, huh? If I had to guess, there would probably be some minor discussion about how, compared to Penny, Robecca is incredibly primitive, but I imagine she would be delighted at the prospect of a new friend. The two of them could bond over their ability to physically and emotionally identify with one another on certain points, such as their artificial nature and whether or not they're truly 'real' or not. I mean, I know Penny absolutely adores her friendship with Ruby, but she isn't like her or anyone else for that matter -  the closest there is are mindless, robotic androids that follow simple commands. In this instance, Robecca would be the closest thing to a free-thinking, yet artificial being Penny could find.

Plus, let's be honest, I imagine Penny being in love and trying to figure out what it all means and what it's doing to her would be hilariously adorable to watch

Yeah, it does seem like there's a few aspects of creating art that aren't exactly easy to make some sort of exact science out of. Maybe because everyone has their own style? Hmm... In any case, I like what you did and I think you did fine with the lighting/shadowing. Hmm... Adding little things to background, eh? Maybe Robecca seeing the embrace from a distance and being all like "Aww, aren't you two adorable!" or maybe even "Starting without me, eh?". Lol.

The Penny Seal Of Approval! If it doesn't make you feel absolutely combat-ready, it's not sensational. XD

Wow. That certainly proves that sometimes there's nothing like the first impression of something. Lol. Now I wonder if that kinda thing's happened with others, where they get to know a show through fanart/fanfiction but then can't help but wish the actual show was more like the fan-made content they discovered it through.

Hmm... Yeah, I think I read a couple of those kind of Venus/Jackson lemons. I remember one where Jackson ended up having to wear perfume because he ran outta deodorant but the scent of the perfume turned out to be quite an aphrodisiac on Venus. Lol. But on the other hand, I do recall one where, due to some fumbling around involving losing a quarter, Jackson stumbles into the Ghouls' Locker Room. Thankfully, it was empty... except for one of the showers... which Venus was using. And he got a good look and she noticed him. And it turned out to be a situation where they were indeed friends, but Venus was all like "Eh, screw it. He's good people." when it came to whether she should have him join her or not. At least that one was consensual AND went with the "Horndog Venus" idea. XD And that's how Jackson suddenly adopted a heavy interest in "gardening".

Nice breakdown of how Jackson and Venus would get along in a relationship. Hmm... Now I'm curious if Venus would ever question if it's somehow possible for Jackson and Holt to, at least temporarily, split apart so she can have a threesome with both her boyfriends. A real "veggie burger", if you will. XD I can imagine that Holt might get a tad uppity if Jackson has more turns at their lady-love than him. Hmmm... Now I picture Venus, with a little help from Ghoulia or Robecca, somehow "growing" a body for Holt's mind/soul/consciousness/whatever to occupy so that Jackson and Holt no longer have to compete for control of their body. I'm basing that thought on something Poison Ivy did once, if I remember correctly. Been a while since I've seen it, but I do recall bits and pieces of a Batman Animated Series episode where Ivy literally grew a family of her own. But thanks to Batsy provoking her, Ivy's new hubby and kids turned into mindless plant monsters to try and whup his ass. (Also, if somebody did go with the idea of Venus helping Holt have a body of his own somehow via "mad science gardening", there's an easy pun right there for when the three of them have "fun time" together: She could say that she enjoys having both 'real meat' and 'veggie meat'!)

I like "Organic Beats", but can't help but feel like there could be a name that easily fits in aspects of all three characters instead of a name that only fits just two. Hmm...

Hmm... Yeah, that totally works! Heh. And here I was only thinking of the fact that they're both artificial beings. And here you are, pointing things out that can make it a lot more viable a relationship! Man, I love when we brainstorm things. And that's a lovely scene idea for Robecca and Frankie. Just a nice little time together by the fire, in from the rain... And wouldn't ya know it, another idea makes it to The List! Yay!

Indeed, it would take quite a bit of practice. A LOT of practice. But I can definitely see Jane eventually being able to make herself anthropomorphic. Imagine Jane becoming a very purple version of Krystal from StarFox or something. Hmm... Gender-swapping? I assume that Venus and Robecca might want a "best of both worlds" scenario in bed if they feel like spending some time alone together, just the three of them, without Ben and the others but still want some D? XD Or maybe, upon hearing that development, Venus might get curious as to what her and Jane's child could look like? Heh... That'd be a crazy section of Ben's big family: Ben and Venus having a kid, Ben and Jane having a kid, AND Venus having Male Jane's kid!

I'm glad ya like my thought of Penny/Robecca. Yeah, that'd be the basic gist of how they'd start getting along. Robecca admiring how advanced Penny is while Penny's happy to have another sentient bot around. And then Penny starts catching feelings... and she adorably stumbles and fumbles while trying to figure out what she's feeling. Meanwhile, I think Robecca might have a bit more experience in at least witnessing what Penny could be feeling (thanks to her time with friends at MH) and that'd be where Robecca would be the "advanced" bot in the situation. Lol. And cue the pair bonding together... And yes, it would definitely be adorably hilarious to see Penny try to understand love!

Hope to hear back from ya soon, both on this comment and in our ever-ongoing conversation. Man, we talk a LOT, don't we...?

Well, yeah, but what irks me is that there don't seem to be any 'guide lines' to follow, or at least, none that I can find. Like, when a light source is coming from beneath someone's head, like how you might hold a flashlight when telling a ghost story or when sitting around a campfire, what parts of the face are shadowed? What about when the source of light is coming from directly behind someone, like they were standing in front of a rising/setting sun?

As for the little details I'm adding, I want to keep this pure Monster High - while I love my stories, a lot of my pieces are Ben 10 oriented or influenced in some capacity, so some diversity would be nice. True, the pairing does appear in my stories, but I feel it would be applicable in either setting. No, what I'm thinking of adding are just some simply patterns, like jungle leaves, flowers, paw prints, feathers, and other shapes and symbols respective to each ghoul.

Believe it or not, that's actually how I got into RWBY

One of the Youtubers that I follow is a big anime nerd (but I follow his channel for his League of Legends content) made a video where they were playing a game with their friends directly after watching RWBY Volume 3 (or whichever volume Yang gets her arm cut off) and constantly poking fun at one of his friends, whose favorite character is Yang and was absolutely devastated by what happened (such as saying "stay at arm's reach . . . but not Yang's arm"). That was what initially introduced me to RWBY, but then I started seeing random clips pop up every now and again that really peeked my interest, namely the big food fight between Team's RWBY and JNPR. After that, I was a casual fanart browser for a while before I discovered the RWBY Chibi series and binge-watched the shit out of it (which is where I learned about the vast majority of the major plot points/spoilers/pairings for at least the first 3 volumes). And now here I am, anxiously skirting around the need to watch the actual series because I'm not sure if I'm ready for the emotional trauma that is to come when characters I've grown to love die, are gravely injured, or keep on fighting amongst themselves when I just want them to be friends that kill bad things again . . !

I definitely remember reading the perfume one, but I haven't had the fortune of finding the shower one. Certainly sounds like the shenanigans that Jackson and Venus would get into - the awkward nerd constantly finding himself or being dragged into various embarrassing situations by his enthusiastic, crazy, yet loving ghoulfriend. You won't find these two curled up on the couch watching a movie or huddled around the fire drinking hot chocolate! No, they're gonna be dangling from the rooftops because Venus wants to collect some rare plant or breaking into a local grocery store because they don't recycle their plastic bags . . . and, you know, banging each other whenever they feel like it/Venus feels like she's put her man through enough of her nonsense for a good while. Whatever works.

If there was a way for Jackson and Holt to split apart, it would likely be from some outside source, like some kind of newfangled, scientific gizmo that Ghoulia cooked up or a magical serum made by Frankie. Another alternative would be for Robecca and Ghoulia to create a mechanical body for Holt to inhabit, not unlike Robecca herself, and then transfer his consciousness into a digital chip - sort of like downloading him into a flashdrive and then uploading him into the body (there's actually scientific attempts at this in the real-world, though thus far I haven't heard anything confirming its success). Most likely however, the two boys would have to learn how to get along while Venus would have to schedule her time between the two of them since, at the moment, they're all stuck with one another - Venus can't have a relationship with Jackson without Holt, Holt can't have a relationship with Venus without Jackson, and neither 'brother' could have a relationship with someone else without having to take into consideration their other half's relationship.

Hmm, well, there this scientific phenomenon called 'nastic movements', which are directional responses to certain stimuli that is commonly associated with plants. For instance, 'photonastic movements' would be movements that respond to light, such as plants that actively open their leaves during the day in order to photosynthesize and then close their leaves at night in order to protect them from frost. This concept would refer to Venus' floral origins and the Hyde brother's dual nature.

As for what the actual name of the ship would be for this concept, I have no idea. The Greek word for 'love' is "agapi" (if there's an English translation, such as how 'fos' becomes 'photo', I have no idea what it is), making the whole concept "Agapinastic", but that sounds weird.

Well, I (probably) know the lore better than you, so any concepts you come up with, I can (hopefully) tie together with some facts and truths! The best combos are, after all, the ones that have an actual, plausible basis of some kind, after all (sometimes, anyway. After all, if that were true, then AUs wouldn't be a thing, now would they?).

In Jane's case, if she were able to achieve that level of control, she might be able to anthropomorphize an animal or simply transform into a monster species that fits whatever description they're looking for (after all, if there are werewolves, werecats, and even weremice/wererats in the MH universe, then there's likely a werebeast for every taxonomic animal order out there). Technically speaking however, Venus and Robecca are already capable of swapping genders, at least, when it comes to genitalia. For Robecca, it's simply a matter of swapping out one part for another, like changing a tire, while Venus, can simply fashion one out of vines and bark; neither one work on a reproduction level, however. Only Jane can do that and . . . well, that all depends on her, really. Ben would probably think it's weird on so many levels, but be alright with it so long as he isn't the one getting thrown through a wall when the mood swings hit in some four months later (with 17+ wives, he's already had more than enough of that).

I thought you might like that Penny is still trying to wrap her head around the concept of feelings and how to effectively combat them in certain situations - basically trying to understand what it means to be human beyond all the happy thoughts and emotions - while Robecca is already an expert on that. In contrast, Robecca is incredibly old fashioned on the technological scale (she even still uses a typewriter instead of a computer), so Penny will be the one to help her comfortably adjust her to the times - or simply be there to put up with her dated quirks when no-one else will, because that's what robot friends do!

Penny: I once attempted to engage in romantic conversation with a vending machine once *slumps sadly* It did not work out so well. All he wanted to do was talk about himself!

I'll certainly try, but like you said, we talk a lot

I begin to wonder if lighting/shadowing is one of those things where there might be some various suggestions but never anything completely concrete. Like, open to an artist's own interpretation based on what they've learned?

Well, that's a true point. No harm in doing works that stick to canon rather than a crossover fanfiction. Can't blame me for making WAM-verse suggestions, though. But all that aside, I like your idea of adding some themed patterns and designs to your pictures. Maybe try that with your next piece and see how that turns out?

Ah, the equivalent of testing the waters of a swimming pool before slowly making your way in. That's one way to get into a new show. In my case, I literally got introduced to RWBY when I was hanging out at a friend's house overnight and said friend was all like "Dude, sit down. You're watching this." and put on the entire playlist of Season 1. You carefully made your way into the pool, I got hurled into the deep end. XD No regrets, though.

As for your concerns about actually watching RWBY, well... tragic moments seems to be one of Rooster Teeth's calling cards, if the later seasons of their first show, Red Vs Blue, is anything to go by. We just gotta know what we're getting into here. Besides, it's not like we haven't run into tragedy elsewhere... ("I don't feel so good, Mr. Stark...") Besides, in a way, these tragedies do give the villains some credibility here. Salem's Ministry Of Darkness ain't going down without a hell of a fight and a lot of vile sins, that's for damn sure.

Ooh, definitely track down the fic about Jackson's luckiest shower experience ever. That's definitely one way for a pair of good friends to impulsively take the next step to a relationship! I do like your logic about the Jackson/Venus relationship. Sounds like how an introvert and an extrovert can somehow balance each other out as a couple. Venus brings Jackson out of his shell (sometimes the hard way, and occasionally even the fun way), while Jackson tries to make sure that Venus doesn't take her shenanigans waaay too far and end up in trouble. Lol. They got each other's backs.

Lol. There's an idea. Wonder if Jackson and Holt would argue about who gets to keep the fleshy body and who gets the robo-body. Well... unless the robo-body happens to be... ahem... "fully equipped" so that whoever gets the robo-body can also sleep with Venus. XD That idea aside, that's quite true about this particular threesome relationship. I can imagine Venus having to sternly talk to her boys whenever they bicker about who gets more time in control of their body. Imagine a perturbed Venus dragging Jackson/Holt by an ear and, somehow, BOTH voices are heard going "Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!".

Hmmm... Yeah, this trio's hard to come up with a ship name for. Still, good thinking on your part.

Teamwork makes the dream work, as they say. Two minds are better than one. Now I hope your next picture might be a Robecca/Frankie piece. Lol.

Hoo boy, Ben is going to have a VERY interesting time with Jane, Venus, and Robecca if those three ever feel like conducting some experiments involving swapping genitalia and involving him in the she-male intimacy. He's got so many wives that, as I think I said before, he might end up at least being asked to try just about every kind of sexual fetish by the time his life is over. Lol.

Oh God, if you ever decide to write up a Penny/Robecca one-shot or something, that Penny line you wrote's gotta be in there! XD That definitely sounds totally Penny! But yeah, that does sound like a ship I'd love to see happen somehow. Sounds so romantic, two adorable fem-bots trying to understand love and ending up with a lot more.

Lol. Hell yeah, we do. We got thoughts and ideas by the boatload.

CreaturemasterProds In reply to TheBrodRoad [2020-03-07 12:22:01 +0000 UTC]

True, but I still feel there's some general rules to it. Like, if a light source comes from the right, the shadows are on the left. Sure, it's up to each artist to choose how to interpret that, but there are still those core rules that make whatever they create believable. You could create the most alien creature to ever exist, something that doesn't even remotely resemble anything that humanity has seen, and the rules of lighting and shadows will still apply to it.

Well, I've updated it since that (like I said, not too much), but I'll definitely consider it (lots of teacups and roses)!

Can't say I've had too many of those "hurled into the deep end" experiences. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is my love for Disney/Pixar animation, and that's because my parents are huge Disney fans, so that pretty much limited a lot of what I was allowed to watch when I was younger. Wasn't able to get into the likes of Pokemon, Ben 10, or a bunch of other shows I've come to love until I was in my pre-teens. No regrets, of course. Disney is the king of animation for a reason, after all.

True, but it was pretty much established from the moment that Loki invaded New York with an army of inter-dimensional aliens that things were going to get ugly. Plus, when it became obvious that Thanos was going to be the next big villain after Ultron, everyone pretty much assumed that at least one person of significant importance wasn't going to make it out of the fight alive; the only reason that it impacted everyone like it did is because, when it comes to cinema, the villain rarely ever wins for more than a couple hours at most. Thanos succeeded in his mission for years, something only a handful of villains can claim (off the top of my head, The Empire from Star Wars and Scar from The Lion King). My point is that while Team RWBY and JNPR were fighting man-eating monsters, nobody expected two (now possibly three, if one counts Winter) of the most beloved characters to killed off, and in the same volume no less.

Which is kind of the reason why I think Rwby Chibi was a necessity in some regards. Sure, Penny has returned after nearly four volumes, but the chances of ever hearing Pyrrha again outside of a flashback (or a possible Grimm resurrection; like you said, Rooster Teeth can be real nasty sometimes) are slim to none.

Was it on FF or ArchiveofourOwn? I don't dabble much in the latter, but that's where a MH/EAH lemon-writing friend of mine was forced to retreat to when FF apparently threatened to delete his account for some lemon-related shenanigans or something along those lines; but I digress. That's why I like the whole 'opposites attract' pairings a lot, since it forces the characters to develop until they reach a point where in balance with one another. And even then, the banter between them is often even better than the relationship itself, since it's been proven that the most successful marriages are those where the couple involved see their spouse as their best friend.

I imagine if the robot body option was to be taken seriously, that whichever brother got it would be directly involved in the creation of it. Think of it like getting a new car or a new pair of shoes after having the same car or shoes for years - if possible, you'd like to be or feel like what you had so there will be little to no difficulty transitioning from one to the other. Plus, let's be honest, they'd probably want the body to at least look like them in some capacity (think of it like making an avatar in a game; most players like to create themselves or what they imagine/like themselves to be like). Of course, knowing Holt, he'd probably want to make a modification or two to a certain part . . . maybe even Jackson, if he's feeling particularly self-conscious As for the two of them inhabiting their body at the same time, that's another possible outcome for an attempted 'separation trial', probably where the process went wrong and they ended up in a fusion of each other. Of course, another possibility would be Jackson, Holt, Venus, and another ghoul that one of the Hyde brothers is dating trying to figure out how to make a technical foursome work out when both ghouls technically share a man.

Sadly, Frankie x Robecca won't be next (I'll probably call the ship "Mad Science"). The plan is to release my first EAH pairing, which I'm tentatively calling "Sleeping Madness". It's a pairing that started out as a crackship that I was challenged to come up with headcanons for that I've surprisingly become quite attached to. Any guesses?

While it's likely that will probably happen (at least, assuming Jane gains that much level of control over her shape-shifting), Ben probably won't ever admit to it, much less possibly enjoying it. Like it or not, he's got too much pride for that and will refuse to ever let the ghouls have one over him in that department. That being said, I do actually have plans for such a pairing to happen in OUAT involving perhaps the least likely character you could imagine.

I'm actually thinking of doing a Penny x Robecca piece at some point, most likely after the aforementioned Sleeping Madness and Mad Science pairings.

Yeah, that's a true enough point. No matter what an artist's personal style is, there's always the basic rules and laws that apply. Otherwise, much like the Chewbacca Defense from South Park, it doesn't make sense. Lol.

Nothing wrong with trying out an idea on a new piece you were planning on doing or already working on anyway. Hope to see what comes of what you needed teacups and roses for.

Well, when your folks are hardcore about something (Disney, in your case), you're bound to have a childhood featuring a good chunk of that. Just imagine the fact that today's kids are born in an era where, most likely, their parents might be super-nerdy about something. Anime kids, video game kids, superhero kids, etc. etc. And of course, even more Disney kids. XD

Ah, I believe I see. It's not the fact that there's tragedy. It's the "surprise screwjob" nature of how RT did it with RWBY. They lure ya in with the funtime antics and comedy of Seasons 1 and 2, even the first half of Season 3... but then HERE COMES THE TAIL END OF SEASON 3, YA PRIMITIVE SCREWHEADS! (Pardon my random Evil Dead: Army Of Darkness reference.) I suppose not everyone appreciates bait-n-switch tactics.

But I do agree that RWBY Chibi should come back. Nothing wrong at all with a strictly-comedy side show if it's done right. *slightly glares and frowns at Teen Titans Go when I say "if it's done right"* I miss Chibi... They have quite a bit of new characters and material to riff off of now. If they're gonna bring it back, it's a prime time to.

Yeah, it's on Archive Of Our Own for the exact reasons you said, the author getting chased off of FF by some angry stuck-up prudes. Bah... Plenty of people still get away with sex stories on FF unscathed, so I believe it's just the prudes being dicks to whatever random sex stories they happen to stumble upon. Hmm... Wonder if we're talking about the same author. Lol. Anyways, I found that Jackson/Venus story for ya. Hope ya like it as much as I did.

archiveofourown.org/works/1408…

As a bonus, I also found another, more-recent Jackson/Venus story on there that I also liked.

archiveofourown.org/works/2197…

Anyways, I agree with you about 'Opposites Attract' pairings. The potential for a good balance is fun to see play out, as well as the good-quality banter.

Well, that's very true points. The perks of customization are definitely things to consider. Sure, artificial body, but there's nothing like complete creative control to help settle that matter down to a dull roar. Especially if it means being able to control said body 24/7 instead of just whenever you happen to gain control at random occurrences. Lol. And of course, the ability to bang Venus. Hmm... The "failed separation trial" idea could be amusing to see before one consciousness finally gets into its new body. But you do present an interesting scenario about Holt having his own lady and everyone agrees to a "foursome", despite there only being three bodies. That's quite a dilemma to settle. XD

Ah, nice. Time for EAH to shine! Lol. Hmmm... My guess would be... Maddie and Briar?

Well, he wouldn't PUBLICLY admit to possibly liking it whenever Jane, Venus, and/or Robecca are in the mood to go she-male. True, the hero's got pride. But I doubt the ghouls in question would bust his chops (much) about that. I mean, Jane definitely wouldn't. Robecca seems like a respectful enough lass to not tease her boo about it. Maaaaybe Venus a little bit, though. XD Lol. Hmm... Gonna have a she-male situation in OUAT, eh? Oh boy. That'll be something to read. Kinda got me curious about how that goes down.

Ooh! That's cool to hear! That'll definitely be another piece I'm interested in seeing when it's done. Go, Penny/Robecca!

Eh, you make some good points about that. It's actually kinda a comforting thought to think that nowadays, a considerable number of people that you know or work with are just as crazy about pop culture as you are. It's especially relieving as of now, when business is pretty much slowed to a crawl and you need something to pass the time while you're waiting for something to happen - nothing better to do than have a serious discussion about which member of team RWBY is best girl or which HTTYD dragon is better.

Well, I mean, I think we all kind of knew that there were going to be losses when the show first began - after all, their a bunch of teenagers training to fight against monsters that have effectively forced humanity into isolated, defensive communities in order to survive and pretty much prevented them from ever traveling along the ground for long periods of time. HUmanity is on the back foot and no longer at the top of the food chain, so there was bound to be some trials ahead. I guess what just caught us all off guard was that it all happened directly to the main cast. It wasn't an important supporting character whose death or loss indirectly affected them, no, one of them actually died and the other effectively became an amputee all in the same volume, not to mention the additional death of a beloved supporting character. So, no, I don't think we weren't expecting to get screwed with, it's just that we didn't expect it to happen so intensely and in such rapid succession; no time to collect ourselves and ruminate on it all, you know?

But yeah, RWBY Chibi is an absolute necessity, and not just because I love the series. After 7 volumes, it feels like a breath of fresh air to hear Pyrrha's voice again or have the cast reference the shenanigans that the fanbase gets up to, much less wrestling with problems as ridiculous as annoying Cinder to death with the "Camp Camp" theme song. Speaking of which, what exactly do you think Chibi did right that TTG didn't? Off the top of my head, I think it might have to do with how each show flanderized their characters - Chibi only does it slightly, while still alluding to the more complex parts of each character's personality, while TTG goes all the way with only mocking references whenever it suits them. That, and the former doesn't mock their fans.

Yep, we're talking about the same guy! UltimateWarriorFan4Ever does some pretty good stuff, and I've even helped him come up with concepts for a few stories (most notable is a Dexter x Briar lemon), even if I don't always agree with his taste in pairings. To each their own, I suppose. Anyways, thanks for the stories! I'll be sure to check them out! And who knows? I might do a Venus x Jackson piece at some point!

Well, I mean, Jackson turns into Holt whenever he hears loud music, so I wouldn't say it's totally random (not sure what turns him back. Maybe classical music? Or maybe there's a time limit?), but I do see your point. Knowing Holt, if he was the one who ended up with the robot body (which to be honest, I think he would be more than happy to take), he'd probably have them install speakers into it so he could play music whenever he wanted, in addition to some . . . other modifications, of course. As for the potential 'foursome', I think Holt and River Styx would make a pretty good couple, due to their love of music and partying. The two of them would be that cool couple who writes their own music, but always has access to the latest tunes and always throws the sickest parties. And of course, in the headcanon of the 'foursome', Jackson would be the only sane one trying to desperately keep a leash on all three of his crazy partners

Huh. Honestly didn't think it would be that obvious. But yeah, Briar x Maddie is the next one up. I know it's usual, given how little the two of them have interacted or how little they have in common, but that headcanon challenge I was a part of a few months back forced me to come up with a handful of them that I think could surprisingly work. Perhaps not 100% in the show or in canon, but in a close timeline of sorts. It mostly involves Briar taking advantage of and embracing the free spirited nature of Wonderland while Maddie keeps her anxieties about following her destiny (sleeping for a 100 years and waking up with everyone she knew and loved gone) in check. After all, she's been best friends forever after with Raven since they were little and nothing helps sooth one's fears better than tea!

Well, of course. Ben isn't dumb enough to say anything about his sex life to the public, much less anyone outside of his harem (not even to Gwen, and especially not to Kevin and Rook. The last thing he needs is to be made fun of or receive 'tips'). But yeah, Jane definitely won't say anything, but Venus wouldn't absolutely bust his chops over it if it got a good enough reaction (all in good fun,of course); Robecca however, I see being a good mix between the two. She's polite enough not to bring it up, but won't hesitate for some gentle ribbing if Ben gets a little too big for his britches. After all, her ghoulfriends aren't the only one she has to keep in check.

As for the OUAt situation, let's just say that it will be both a wild and charming experience

I'm glad you approve! For a fun ship name, I'm thinking "Artificial Intelligence" or "Nuts & Bolts" (a deliberate pun on the RWBY ship "Nuts & Dolts"). Thoughts?

And don't worry, I haven't forgotten about our main conversation. Just been trying to figure out how to do everything with this whole virus situation and this is the shorter of the two conversations to reply to

Exactly. When we're stuck in a pandemic and a lot of us are stuck at home (Not me... I work at a grocery store, therefore I still have to report to work), there's always the fandoms and entertainments we have to keep the fun going and to help take our minds off of what's going on. What better time than now to dive into some of the stuff relating to our hobbies that we've bought over the years, right? Lol. By the way, speaking of this situation, I hope you're doing well and are being careful. Stay safe, my friend!

Hmm... Well, not to seem dark here, but wouldn't that be a sign of an effective screwjob by evildoers? Something so effective and so fast that the opposition has no choice but to find themselves in checkmate? I suppose Rooster Teeth figured that if they're going to hit the fans with a surprise shift to a darker tone, they'd hit us hard and hit us fast... Besides, with that being how Volume 3 ended, at least fans at the time had the break between seasons to stew about it and come to terms with what's going on before Volume 4 came along to present the aftermath and how our heroes pressed onward.

I agree with Chibi being needed. As for your question about TTG, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. All that, along with the fact that people like myself were expecting the original show to continue, considering how Season 5 ended, and instead... we get this. Sigh... Ah well...

Ah, nice! It is the same guy! Small world, ain't it? Lol. Good to hear ya like his stuff. Hope ya like the Venus/Jackson stuff I pointed out.

Lol! Good points there. Mmm.... River. Nice choice for Holt. And I can imagine the foursome idea getting an awkward start with Jackson and Holt trying to figure out how to switch control back and forth effectively so they can please Venus and River without things going too haywire. Crazy or not, I'm sure that at least Venus and River would appreciate it if one of their boos didn't accidentally hog control and leave their other boo out of the whole thing. Lol. But the custom-made music-bot (with "special attachments") for Holt would solve that problem right quick. XD

To be honest, who else has a sleeping gimmick? Lol. 50/50 shot on the "Madness" part though, as Lizzie could also technically fit that. Hmmm... Yeah, that does make sense... well, enough sense as something involving Maddie can make, anyway. Lol. Nothing like tea and random shenanigans to help take your mind off of your anxiety... and perhaps steer said mind right into something crazy. Nothing TOO crazy, of course. Just crazy enough to work. And now I picture Maddie trying a lot of crazy things to keep her Briar awake when the big sleep threatens to take her. "When I said I wanted to sleep with Briar, I definitely meant sexually! Now back off, destined sleep!" XD (That'd be a twist on "This isn't what it looks like!".)

Lol. True, true. The ghoulfriends may know when to keep it to themselves, but indeed, Ben does sometimes need to be brought back down to earth... Best be careful what kinky secrets you share with your more mischievous lovers, Tennyson. ;D

Wait... "Charming", you say? My only guess with that hint would be... Hmm... Darling's got "a little extra something", eh?

Hmm... I like both ship names. But leaning toward Nuts And Bolts to keep the theme going. Although, Artificial Intelligence is a good pick too... While we're on the subject of Penny ship names, I read your response to our main conversation (and hope to have a response typed out soon), and since ya saw the moment about Weiss and Ruby leanin' on Penny ("Salutations, my sensational ladies! There's plenty of me to go around."), I'll say my tweaked Nuts N Dolts ship name right here... How about a big heapin' bowl of FROSTED NUTS N DOLTS?! To quote South Park, it's super cereal! XD Seriously, I can't be the only one that thought of a Weiss/Penny/Ruby polygamous relationship (or at least a threesome) when that moment aired.

I hear ya, dude. We chat about so many things, it's like typing out fanfiction chapters. XD Still fun, though. But again, I hope you're doing alright with this pandemic going on. In any case, I'll get a start on the reply to our main chat soon.

I had a feeling that might be your reaction

I'll be honest though, I didn't think people (or, at the very least, you) would so eagerly jump on board with this pairing, considering that Jane is one of the last characters created before the reboot and, to some, may feel like Mattel was scrapping the bottom of the barrel since her exact parentage is deliberately left ambiguous. Plus, so many more people ship Venus with Robecca, Rochelle, or Jackson/Holt because the former two of the three are friends with her and all of them were released together (if I'm being honest, that's part of the reason why Robecca is part of Venus' lil' mini-harem in my stories).

Aw, thanks! I also think it may or may not have something to do with you reading my stories, but I'm wondering if it would still hold up in a non-crossover scenario.
