Description
This one has been a long time in the making. Requested by , I have taken the controversial redesign of everyone's favorite alien plant, Wildvine, and brought them back into the Omniverse art style! Now while I have my personal opinions about the Reboot, I shall attempt to do the mature thing and remain neutral as I delve into this alien's bio. While virtually everyone knows about Wildvine from the original continuity, this is more or less dedicated to those fans that appreciate the Reboot or are just getting into Ben 10 and want to know more about their favorite alien. That being said, please note that the following information is a blend of both continuities and my own, personal input; needless to say, don't accept everything below as fact.
Say it with me now . . . onto the facts!
Name: Wildvine
Species: Florauna
Home World: Flors Verdance
Powers/abilities: Being a plant in nature, Wildvine can grow and stretch his body to inhuman degrees. In addition, he can sprout vines and creepers from his fingers in order to trap and ensnare opponents or stretch his arm or fingers out into a long whip(s) to beat them back. This kind of malleability grants Wildvine an incredible amount of regeneration, to the point where he can regrow limbs and half of his entire body back should he need to.
Wildvine can generate thorns on virtually any part of his body to trap enemies or protect himself from harm.
Floraunas can throw the large bulbs on their backs like bombs and each has their own use. Some will explode and form smokescreens or clouds of sleeping spores to incapacitate opponents while others will instantaneously sprout vines in order to entangle enemies. And still, others will explode into sticky, viscous traps of slime or cover an enemy in sweet-smelling nectar in order to attract swarms of insects.
Being a plant, Wildvine can merge with Earth plant life in order to camouflage himself.
Wildvine is very agile when in the treetops and has been seen stretching his arms along branches in order to swing himself along like a monkey.
Floraunas are immune to the effects of most gases, such as flame retardant.
Because they are technically plants, Floraunas are incapable of being hypnotized by any visual means.
Wildvine has a degree of enhanced strength, as he was able to hurl a car about the length of a city block.
Weaknesses: Wildvine is capable of being entangled in his own vines if he isn't careful.
Being a plant, Floraunas are vulnerable to fire and alien species that can generate fire, such as Pyronites.
Etymology: Wildvine's name comes from his floral appearance.
Trivia: The species' name is based on the words "flora" and "fauna", words that are used to describe plants and animals, respectively.
The species' home world derives from the word "flora", which means "flower", and "verdant", meaning "green".
Flors Verdance is a world that is covered from pole to pole in lush jungles and rainforests and home to millions of different plant and animal species, ranging from trees taller than skyscrapers and gigantic, extraterrestrial arthropods; a number of the wildlife can even go their entire lives without ever touching the ground. The Florauna themselves base their entire culture around its care and upkeep and will actively attack anyone who would seek to otherwise harm the rich biodiversity of their world with extreme prejudice. At one point in time, they actively attacked any other species that attempted to set foot on their home world, believing that they were there to exploit the abundance of natural resources available; to this day, they remain wary of outsiders.
Despite being united as a species in the care and upkeep of their planet's ecosystem, Floraunas live in colonies of up to a hundred members and are very territorial towards other colonies. So vicious are they, that they will attack any plant or animal that they believe has wandered onto their land from another and won't stop until they have captured at least one member of the party and brought them before their chieftain to be eliminated. This being said, colonies of Florauna are open to negotiation if either one of their territory's ecosystem is suffering and will seek to help each other in any way they can until the crisis has been averted.
Floraunas originally evolved from ordinary plants before evolving the ability to walk and move about in order to follow the seasonal cycle of their planet's three suns.
Florauna vomit consists of a disgusting combination of tree sap and small flowers.
Disclaimer: I do not own Ben 10.
Ben 10 is owned by Man of Action and Cartoon Network.
I only own this interpretation of Wildvine.
Do not use without my permission.

I know you don’t like the reboot but one idea from it that I absolutely love is that Ben is a skilled cook. Like, maybe the idea is that he never really liked his parents or Max’s cooking so he learned to fix things for himself. Needless to say, people like Rook and Kevin are kind of shocked to discover this. The only ones who aren’t are Gwen and July. Ben often cooked when they were with Grandpas max for long periods and one of Ben’s first date ideas for him and Julie was that he made her dinner.

I mean, I've kinda made that headcanon myself, though it was more or less as a result of his mother's cooking. Granted Max's cooking isn't much better, but Ben only had to put up with him for a summer; he has to live with his parents, and his mom is a firm believer in 'healthy' eating (which probably explains why Ben likes chili fries and smoothies so much). While I don't imagine him being an absolutely amazing chef, I like to think he knows how to make a few basic foods to keep himself fed whenever his mom's whipped up something that only aliens find appetizing - simple stuff, like grilled cheese, scrambled eggs, or pasta. Something that doesn't take a lot of time and anyone can make without having to look at a cookbook for exact measurements for.

Have you thought of doing a take on what Ben might look like in the form of an alien species shown in the series? Like as a Sludgepuppy, or a Revohnnaghander, or lewodan?

CreaturemasterProds In reply to ironlegionaire [2019-11-18 08:14:05 +0000 UTC]
I have given it some thought, mostly on the Sludgepuppy aspect, since they possess a unique set of abilities not yet seen in an Omnitrix transformation, that being of shape-shifting with addition elasticity and regeneration. The Revonnahgander and Lewodan forms wouldn't really offer any overly unique to the roster, in terms of powers and abilities, But as I've said before, the Omnitrix is not meant to be a weapon.

What do you think is the deal with Vulpimancers? Their sentient enough to be in the omnitrix, but besides the one in Alien Force they’ve all mostly behaved like wild animals.

CreaturemasterProds In reply to ironlegionaire [2019-11-10 05:14:50 +0000 UTC]
It's probably a combination of two factors:
1. The species has only recently gained intelligence in comparison to other species and have not yet achieved a 'tribal' society. Their intelligence is probably comparable to chimpanzees or elephants, as they clearly have a language and are capable of working together with other individuals, but they lack a hard social structure. Most importantly, they seem to have not developed any known tools with which to make their survival any easier; they haven't even achieved Level 1 tech yet.
2. Vulpin is not a paradise by any stretch of the imagination. Due to all the pollutants and toxins in the atmosphere in soil, it's a wonder that any stable ecosystem has even evolved or managed to survive in the first place. The planet itself is quite literally in the clutches of a nuclear winter, meaning that resources, such as food and water, are at a premium. Whenever resources are low, species will fight fang and claw to be the ones to claim it, regardless of how supposedly intelligent they are. With this in mind, Vulpimancers have to be as ferocious and vicious as possible in order to even survive, as their world clearly isn't stable enough to support a complex civilization, much less a complex ecosystem.
The one exception to this might those Vulpimancers that are lucky enough to find themselves in situations where they don't have to constantly fight for food or avoid being food (I wouldn't past them being cannibalistic, given how eager two of them were to chase Wildmutt through a meat packing plant instead of taking advantage of all the free meat hanging around them). The Vulpimancer in Alien Force was probably better off than those back on Vulpin and, in some concept art for the Kineceleran kids seen in Omniverse, they were originally going to have a 'pet' Vulpimancer that acted like an over-sized puppy; he/she/it was going to be named 'K9'.

Like I said, I think he actually has it, it's just never been shown. Maybe Wildmutt doesn't know he can do it (after all, he didn't know he could lift things using electricity until Yetta showed him).

You mentioned before that you didn’t like how AF and UA explained everything as being because of aliens and hat made me think: did we ever get an explanation for why Cooper had his powers? Or Morningstar? I think the closest was that their parents or grandparents were Plumbers but that’s it.

CreaturemasterProds In reply to ironlegionaire [2019-11-10 05:58:37 +0000 UTC]
It's been stated by Derrick J. Wyatt (who seems to share my same views about everything being "because of aliens") that both Cooper and Darkstar are mutant humans, like Kevin (the term "Osmosian" would probably only refer to mutant humans with Kevin's specific powers of absorption).

ironlegionaire In reply to CreaturemasterProds [2019-11-10 06:04:19 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but I meant that we never got a sense of why they had those powers. Like, we’re they in some kind of lab accident or something? Are they like the X-men and born with abilities like that? They never really explained that is all.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
CreaturemasterProds In reply to ironlegionaire [2019-11-10 06:07:29 +0000 UTC]
From what we can gather, it's a natural mutation.
Think about it. The only reason they're known to exist now is because, given Earth's history, people who had these powers were likely treated like monsters and killed or shunned by society. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Salem Witch Trials in the Ben 10 universe was actually a genocidal culling of people like Kevin, Cooper, or Darkstar, people who were born with incredible abilities and treated like they were witches. The reason they're shown now is because, well, society doesn't do that anymore.

ironlegionaire In reply to CreaturemasterProds [2019-11-10 06:15:17 +0000 UTC]
Maybe. I just would have liked it if they actually said so in the show. Just one of them saying “I was born with these powers” like Kevin did in his episode. Not just have them have powers with no explanation.
Another Vulpimancer thing: Do you find it odd talking is one of the powers Ultimate Wildmutt has? I mean, even in a worst case scenario, evolving the ability to talk doesn’t seem that useful.

CreaturemasterProds In reply to ironlegionaire [2019-11-10 06:21:51 +0000 UTC]
Eh, to each their own.
Actually, the ability to communicate with others is very powerful. It's one of the reasons why humans have come so far, being able to pass massive amounts of information to one another without having to waste time writing it down or drawing them a diagram. And besides, one could say that the ability to talk in Ultimate Wildmutt means that the species has become more intelligent than before, making them far more deadly and dangerous.

CreaturemasterProds In reply to geneticmonster03 [2019-02-18 07:48:42 +0000 UTC]
Agreed. That, and the entire premise just really, really annoys me.
In fact, I could forgive nearly everything in the Reboot if they fixed just one thing: consistency/continuity. Ignoring the original series altogether, Ben loses half the battles he fights with aliens he should have easily won with, regardless of what age he is; for example, in a clip uploaded to Youtube for one episode where they end up getting detoured to the North Pole, Four Arms loses a fight with a polar bear. And this is the alien that has been shown picking up trucks and hurling them like toys. And in another episode where they take a trip to Paris, France, XLR8 has to stop and wait for a crosswalk because he's apparently too slow to run between the moving cars. And this is the alien that has been shown to move fast enough to keep up with said cars.
The problem I have with the Antitrix concept is that Kevin comes out of nowhere. In the OG series, he was introduced as a delinquent that Ben initially befriended when he had a fight with his family and we're given a quick snippet of his backstory; after this meeting, he becomes a reoccurring villain throughout the series. In the Reboot, he's apparently someone that Ben knows, but that's about it - we don't know their connection at all and yet they somehow know and hate one another.
Getting sidetracked a bit, but every human in the show is as dumb as a rock. I kid you not, even the smartest human characters on the show dumber than the human characters in the OG series. I mean, why have none of them freaked out over aliens appearing on Earth or going crazy when Ben just transforms in the middle of a crowd whose entire attention is on him? You'd think by now that the military or something would have swooped in to snatch him up or something.
With that being said, why is Kevin smart enough to build a copy of the universe's most powerful device and then smart enough to mutate the aliens inside? And assuming Primus doesn't exist, where the hell did he get all the DNA samples for the aliens in the first place? I say this, because the samples apparently only exist in the Omnitrix, and unless Kevin has either been following Ben around all this time, he shouldn't have them regardless.
Seriously, the Reboot is so full of plot holes that it could be considered Swiss cheese.

yeah
i feel like the ben 10 franchise is slowly degradeing
HOLD UP
YOUR TELLING ME FOUR ARMS
A TETRAMAND
WHO THREW A MAMMOTH AT 10 FUCKING YEARS OLD (i presume his transformation correspond with his age) CANT WIN IN A FIGHT AGAINST A POLAR BEAR?
AND XLR8 WHO IS LIKE MID/HIGH S TEIR IN BEN'S ALIEN LINE UP ONLY BEARLY BELOW CLOCKWORK DUE TO TIME MANIPULATION IS NOT FAST ENOUGH TO KEEP UP WITH A EARTH VEHICLE? XLR8 CAN RUN ON WATER, CREATE CYCLONES, AND MOVE SO FAST HE PERCEIVES THING IN SLOW MOTION? THAT IS BULLSHIT!
the only good rip off omnitrixs
are the ultimatrix
and the nemetrix
one being to enhance the aliens to their full potential
and the other being the perfect counter to his omnitrix by having the dna of the predators that hunt the aliens that ben has in the Omnitrix !
this anitirx is bull shit
AND HOW THE FUCK DID HE GET DNA SAMPLES?
and HOW
DID KEVIN
A ELEVEN YEAR OLD JUVENILE DILQUET TROUBLE MAKER CAN CREATE A NEAR EXACT BUT MODDED REPLICA OF ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL DEVICES IN THE MULTIVERSE!
(next to the anyalarg that can either create or destroy a universe but seeing how alien x can create a universe from just an agreed though it is below the omnitrix for that title)
if honestly feel like ever since the end of alien force and ultimate alien ben has be degrading as a character
i mean i get it
ratings where low for ultimate alien and alien force
but where sky high for the classic series and making them have older more mature ben be at times a dick brain (a immature asshole person witha childish and selfish mentality and cna be genraly a dick) HELL Kevin who used ot be a criminal and still kinda is when you think about it can be WAAY more mature than ben at times.
and yeah
if i where a bystander seeing a 10 year old turn into a extraterrstrial with cool but weird abilities with a grotesqe transformation i would go WHAT THE FUCK! and run to the nearest bomb shelter for safety
i honestly feel like the writers dont know what they are doing and just go
OH
WELL THEIR KIDS
THEY LIKE FAST PACE COLORFULL STUFF
(completely ignoring the MASSIVE and i mean MASSIVE fan base that has been with this franchie form day one and supporting it weather it be through getting merchendise, cosplaying, good and epic fanart, making Orignal aliens and mashing others together, and jsut watching the episodes in genral)
if me and you
and a few other good artists here on DA that know their shit about ben 10 where to work a CN
I think our first move would be to burn the abomination to the ground
and start a new
I think the best move would be to go after omniverse since it opened teh door to some many possiblities
their is litteraly a multiverse of bens to explore
time travel
and so
many
good story arc possibilties
along with the possiblties to expand the lore and add new cool alien spcieies

It should be pointed out that the Reboot timeline and the Original timeline differ dramatically, so certain events that happened in the Original timeline - such as Four Arms going toe-to-toe with a mammoth and winning - didn't happen. It's the principle that they, the aliens who are suppose to have these superior and special abilities that rival just about anything on Earth and yet still get clobbered is what's irritating.
By this point (as in, after Omniverse), the show is a cash-cow for Cartoon Network. As of the Reboot, Ben 10 is the longest running Cartoon Network franchise of all time, debuting in 2005 and continuing with new series and movies and the dreadful reboot for roughly 14 years. Granted, most cartoons are made to sell merchandise, but at least the majority try to put effort into their creation and not make it feel like it's a glorified commercial of all things; nowadays, the Reboot has more holes than Swiss cheese.
Personally, I feel like Omniverse gets too much flack. I can understand some people not appreciating the art style or it's more comical tone, but it still tries and does tell stories. It's not like Spongebob where the timeline gets reset every episode; past events are referenced, built upon, and have effect on other episodes in the future, even before the Time War arcs began. And I agree, if we were to continue the series, it would probably between Omniverse and when we first meet Ben 10,000 (the version that has the Biomnitrix, that is). Ideally, it would probably take advantage of the roadtrip Ben, Rook, Gwen, and Kevin take across the galaxy, which allow the exploration of alien worlds and species, as you said, and new stories that otherwise couldn't be told before (for example, in Omniverse, they visited other planets a lot more than they did in the previous series. Imagine what could be done if the gang had nowhere to go but other planets and only returning to Earth at the end of the series or inbetween arcs).

Well, I guess when it comes to modern-day reboots that tend to stick around, perhaps the old line holds true after a while: "Whether you like it or whether you don't like it, it's the best thing going today!".... Obviously, most current reboots are far from "the best", but if they manage to linger, they would be considered the only "thing" of a franchise that's "going today". That line just seemed like the most fitting one to use to reference this situation of you being willing to acknowledge the Reboot despite its subpar nature.
Reboot viewpoints aside, you did a solid job of this one, I'd say.
