Description Ok, so there was some . . . issues . . . updating/replacing the concept images with the final version (most likely because I had to photoshop them all together) which infuriates me to no end since I had to delete it, so . . . yeah, here I am.

This little bugger is part of the Ben 10 Reboot done by fellow Deviant TheWalrusclown and is the final draft of the predator for Wildvine. Enjoy!

Name: Stinging Nettle

Species: Crested Ayunghasphern

Body: Pterosaur

Home Planet: Flors Verdance

Prey: Florauna (Wildvine's species)

Powers/Abilities: Despite their small size, roughly about the size of a volley ball, and leathery wings Crested Ayunghasphern are highly agile and fast, capable of beating their wings roughly 2,500 times a seconds thank to their hyper-kinetic muscles.

Stinging Nettle possesses 360 degree vision, thus making it all but impossible to sneak up on, especially when with other members of their species.

Ayunghasphern transmit a contagious and deadly virus through their saliva; they hunt Floraunas by seeking out the sap and liquids inside their body by following the scent that Floraunas give off (usually rotting meat) , using their needle-like beaks to pierce through the soft skin and start sucking out juices.

Weaknesses: Crested Ayunghasphern are quite fragile, and a crushing blow to their wing alone is a death sentence.

Because they fly so fast, they constantly need food and thus have to keep eating. If they don't get enough energy in little over two days, they will perish.

Trivia: The specie's name derives from the Spanish word for 'fast' and the Maltese word for 'bird'.

Crested Ayunghasphern have sexual dimorphism; the males have large, flashy crests that turn various colors depending on how the male is feeling during the mating season. The brighter and flashier the crest, the more attractive the male is to females, thus creating a dazzling color show when gathered in large groups or tricked into performing for audiences.

Ayunghasphern feed strictly on Floraunas, so to ensure that the species does not go extinct they sometimes gather in large flocks and go on hunting parties, swooping down from the skies at unsuspecting prey like a cloud of knives and draining everything it has within seconds.

Stinging Nettle's appearance and behavior is based upon that of the Dimorphodon, common house fly, vampire bat, and piranha.

The life of a Florauna must be hectic, considering that they have to deal with both Antlerbacks on the ground and Ayunghaspherns from the air. Maybe that's why they evolved to dig so fast?

Ah, but when you're a Florauna - a delicious, walking salad - nowhere is safe, even underground! That's probably why they developed their chlorokinesis abilities, to ensnare and trap predators long enough for them to escape/make a decoy for the predators to eat while they run away.

That makes sense, though their tunneling abilities would probably be useful as a quick getaway after they're ensnared.

Also, now that I think about it, those explosive/gaseous seeds on their backs could be used as an emergency knockout in drastic situations as well (I imagine that they'd take a while to actually grow back, and that the Omnitrix gives Ben an unlimited supply because of that whole "walk a mile in another species' shoes" thing).

True, but we don't know if the predators would have evolved to be immune to the gases in the first place either. Nemetrix predators have a tendency to have evolved every means imaginable to capture their prey and are usually defeated by a different alien than the one they were evolved to hunt in the first place.

Yeah, that's my one gripe with them; they are perfectly designed to counter their prey. In real life, cheetahs, for example, have a rather low chance of pulling off a successful hunt, and the same rule applies for pretty much all natural predators. I know that it's a cartoon, but these things feel more like monsters designed to serve as the ultimate counter to Ben's aliens than a thriving species in a healthy ecosystem.

The only exceptions to this rule are, to me at least, Vicetopus (whose powers and weaknesses are a mystery outside of generic Super-Strength), Omnivoracious (as the Galvan could outsmart them) and Terroranchula (who seems to have no counter to The Worst's Invulnerability and his webbing has limited range that could be counted by groups of whatever Ball Weevil's Species is called). Crabdozer is perfect against Heatblast, Buglizard is perfect against Stinkfly, Tyrannopede is perfect against Humongousaur, and so on.

It's a shame because Terroranchula, The Worst and Ball Weevil are an example of what I want this series to do with this concept; Several peaceful species and a top predator, all living on the same world. All they need is a few more low-level predators and it would be perfect. Sadly, outside of this trio's world, Khoros, Pisciss and Terradino, all these worlds have nothing to them except one sentient race and one unstoppable predator. What a waste of such amazing potential for world-building.

There is actually one planet that is just as diverse as the previously mentioned trio, though the information about it has only just been released following the ending of Omniverse.

Sightra. The home world of the Opticoids, Eye Guy's species. While they lack a known natural predator, their world is far from lifeless. The surface is more like walking on gelatin and the ecosystem consists mostly of many invertebrate species, with the Opticoids being made entirely out of stiff cartilage; no bones about it! As if that weren't enough, the planet has its own special defense against those that aren't familiar with it's nature. It literally eats anyone that it sees as an intruder, making the entire planet alive in a sense. In fact, there is a theory that Sightra is actually a gigantic super organism with all of its indigenous species acting as antibodies (sort of like our own immune system) or simply doing their part to ensure the health and safety of the planet (sort of like a gigantic, alien man-o'-war).

If you don't believe me, here's the link: ben10.wikia.com/wiki/Sightra

I've heard of Sightra, and find it to be one of the most fascinating concepts for a planet ever. I probably should've mentioned it as well, now that I think about it.
