Description as requested here the tutorial - follow the link for the vid [link]

it only shows the basics of my personal way of coloring using Paint Tool SAI, might not be the most efficient or most intelligent one but it works for me

the brush-settings on the left are for the main brush I use to color - the ones on the right are for the airbrush I use for final highlights

Quick question. I believe I use a different version of sai compared to yours and It doesn't offer the 'water' setting like yours. It only offers spread, spread and noise, Β bristle, and flat bristle. Which would you think is closest to that or do I just have to put up with my version?

I never used any much so I can't tell - but I used the basic brush without water setting or any texture and tweaked it and got the same results - check the advanced settings and play around with them - there's belnding, opaxity mix and so on and they can create the same effect like the water setting ^^ basically all you need is pen pressure and the basic seetings to blend, the water setting is not necessary

I have a question about it, I love this new tutorial though the question is wen you say use a different hue, in what color wheel you use like in RGB or LSV or something like that and how much of the value should i go

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

crimson-nemesis In reply to omegan12 [2013-08-31 13:34:26 +0000 UTC]

I use the regular rgb color wheel SAI offers - as for the hue, there is no recipy for this because every artwork is individual - depending on the mood you want to create, the impact, bright colors, dim colors, the surround light, the intensity of the lightsource, the distance to the light source - all these things go into the question what hue to choose ^^ I always start with a dark one and depending what mood i have I lighten up with mote or less saturated colors^^

where did you get the square brush?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

crimson-nemesis In reply to Annpar2009 [2013-04-20 13:32:31 +0000 UTC]

it's just a normal brush with a square tip - you can change the tip form with the buttons right under the brush-tiles. But for the type of coloring I do it is unimportant what shape the brush has ^^

I don't have the link to the same SAI version as mine, I originally got the it from a friend, but if you use google it should be very easy to find a suitable SAi version to download or buy ^^

Does SAI work differently than Photoshop, especially in a process like this?

Every colouring process video I watch made by Sai, makes colouring look easy. This proves that Photoshop needs a waterbrush, or I have a really poor knowledge of PS tools.

Nevertheless, thanks for the vid. It's really helpful! And the bot looks lovely!
