Description
An often-celebrated design of Dr. (Julian) Robotnik, and my favorite second only to his Fleetway incarnation. I never liked how the Archie comics didn't really go all-out until the later issues, and by the 50th issue, it was too late- he bit the dust! Sure he roboticized most of Mobius (A concept Sega has unfortunately never seen fit to incorporate), but the early issues really hurt his image, portraying him as a man behind a desk who never thought "Set the forest my enemies are hiding in" was a good idea.

The TV series one, in contrast, was a really chilling antagonist (Ironic, since usually comics are often more serious and edgy than TV shows) who relentlessly bullied his nephew and seemed to display a far stronger obsession with destroying his hated nemesis than any other...probably because Sonic was the reason ol' Julian has a cyborg arm (Which I imagine he uses to arm-wrestle his minions). The best example of this comes from his last scene in the episode "Sonic Nightmare", which I've illustrated here, where his hatred for Sonic borders on the suicidal. I think it goes something like this:

Robotnik: Clever maneuver, hedgehog...but the final move is mine! (Reaches for the missile button)
Snively: Dr. Robotnik, we've sustained major damage to the main circuitry.
Robotnik: Then get it under CONTROL!
Snively: Sir, we must return to Robotropolis IMMEDIATELY, or risk crashing!
Robotnik: (Reaches for the button, eyes wide and shivering, before pressing it) Goodbye...hedgehog. (Keeps pressing) Why won't the missile LAUNCH?!
Snively: Circuit grids are severely damaged, sir. We must turn back before we lose all power.
Robotnik: (Smashes the control panel)
